"Why trouble Sabina with such things? You can wrap up this assignment in a day or two and be back home. We'll simply invent a cover story for her that you are on a routine training assignment to keep your skills up. She doesn't need to know what else you keep up, does she?"

Alex was surprised. Did Blunt just make a sexual innuendo? Maybe he was beginning to unwind a bit.

"Are you SURE I can get in and out of there in a couple of days tops and none of this will get back to her?"

Blunt stared evenly at Alex. "I have full confidence in your ability to get in and out quickly, and as far as your girlfriend goes, I don't see any reason for her to ever know any of the details of any of your missions."

Alex wasn't totally convinced. Blunt had proven himself to be a conniver time and time again, and Alex was pretty sure he saw Blunt take a quick glance at the telephone as he said "in and out quickly;" Alex was pretty sure that was Blunt's feeble attempt at a humorous reference to the telephone interruption of Alex and Sabina's love-making.

Still... something within Alex just had to respond to the call to action. Besides, what could possibly go wrong?

"Ok, I'm in," he responded.

Blunt nodded. "Very well. We can have you leave tonight, unless there is some reason you need to wait until morning."
