Hug

Breathing steady, heart strong. I ran to him, feet barely kissing the grass closing the distance between us in just a couple strides. I nearly flung myself at him, almost knocking him down. He slid his hands around me, pulling me swiftly into a warm embrace. I buried my face in his neck, hands clutching softly at his back. Whenever I found myself in Hiccup’s arms, the world around me seemed to fade away. As we pull away, he reaches for my hand and presses it to his cheek.

“What? No kiss?” he asked, making me laugh.

“Not in front of Toothless. You know how he gets,” I reminded, bringing his attention back to his dragon who was off to the side pretending to gag.

“Aw, c’mon, Bud. Don’t be like that,” Hiccup protested, walking over to Toothless to pet his head. “You’ll understand when you find someone. Who knows? Maybe, there’s a lady Night Fury out there for you.” Toothless rolled his eyes, clearly not amused with his master’s teasing.
