How do you think?

As you open the door to your parents home you are greeting by the sight of Courtney watching Spongebob on the television in the living room.

The little girl glances over at the two of you, a smile brightening her face at the sight of her mother. "MOMMY!" she screams gleefully, getting up and running towards Doe.

"Hey baby, how was your night?" Doe asks bending down to meet her daughters enthusiastic greeting.

"I had fun momma. Gandpa teached me how to play chess! I beat him twice!" she answers. You look at her in a different light now. With the knowledge that this is your daughter you now see the resemblance. "Hello Mr. John. Where were you last night?" She asks, and your face heats up a bit. You let out a coughing laugh.

"Ah, I'll tell you later, Courtney." You answer.

"Okays." She says cheerfully, then looks at Doe. She leans in and does the child's whisper, "Does he know yet?"

Doe smiles and hugs her...your daughter tightly, "Yes he does baby. Yes he does."

Courtney smiles, "Was he, uh, happy?" She asks, her voice full of hope.

Your love hugs her again, "Yes he was very happy."

Courtney shifts in her mother's arms and holds her arms out to you. "Daddy, I want to hug you!"

Your heart is beating hard as you take your daughter in your arms for the first time. The little girl just melts into her first hug with her father, gripping you as tightly as she could. "You can hug me anytime. You're a good girl, aren't you?"

"Yup!" she says, burying her face into your shoulder. You turn your head to look at Doe, and watch her watching the two of you with a serene smile. She notices you looking at her and her smile grows more.

"Come here." You say to Doe. She steps a bit closer and you wrap your arm around her, hugging the two most important people in your life at the same time.

The moment is interrupted by your father coming out of the kitchen with a digital camera, and snapping a photo of the hug. "Alright, first hug with your daughter! Everything work out for the two of you?" He asks, a broad smile on his face.

Doe looks at your father, "Everything has worked out wonderfully, Charlie..."

Your father gets a stern look, "Now, Doe what have I told you?"

Doe giggles, "Sorry, dad. It's just...You know..."

"You are as much my child as John is your mother's kid. You two were practically raised together. Now, go call your mother. This is cause for celebration!"

Courtney shrieks at that, "YAY! PARTY PARTY PARTY!" she says as she pumps a hand into the air.
