"You know," Bernie said, "I like the way my hair looks, long like this? But this summer it's just been too hot. I'm thinking of getting it cut way down."

Gary said, "Like on your college ID?" The photo on her old student ID card had a severe short-on-the-sides haircut.

"Well, I was thinking at least more like yours," Bernie said. "Shower, towel, and you're on your way. I know someone who works at the salon here at the mall, maybe I could just do it today."

Lil looked up from the fat booklet from her Billy Royce disk. "How 'bout you guys get matching haircuts!" she said.

Gary laughed. "You want one too?" he asked.

Lil smiled. "Maybe? I mean, I could use some kind of change."
