Hot spring day...

Jessica's alarm blared as she groggily woke up. Her hand slammed down onto the side table as she silenced the alarm and groaned. She shifted her weight upright. The sun blared through the curtains in her dorm as she sat upright. Nicole was stirring above her on the dorm's bunk.

It was a Saturday morning and summer was right around the corner. Only a couple weeks until finals and then both Nicole and Jessica would be done with their first year of college. Jessica yawned as she rubbed her eyes awake.

Nicole moaned and then asked in an achy voice, "What time is it?"

"It's 8:30 AM," Jessica says as she stretches and starts to shift in the bed.

"No wonder my stomach is killing me," Nicole says as Jessica hears her shift up and then swing over and jump down from her bed. She lands in front of Jessica with a smile. "Good Morning Sunshine!"

"Good Morning," Jessica says as she yawns again. "What are you planning to do today?"

"It looks sunny outside, I thought it would be great to take a hike in the woods nearby. I don't have any homework this weekend so I thought I'd enjoy some adventuring. Did you want to come with?"

"Hmmm...That sounds like fun. I might."

"Alright, well I'm going to go get breakfast after I freshen up, feel free to meet me at the food court if you decide to hike. I'm going to leave at 9:30 AM if I can."

With that Nicole grabs her towel swings it over her shoulder, takes her showering tote, and then leaves the dorm room. The door shuts behind her with a loud click.

Jessica shifts in her bed again as she swings her legs over the side. Thoughts swirl in her head. The heat of the room today was kind of annoying. It was a hot day. Did she really want to go on a hike with Nicole? It might be nice.
