After texting everyone I drive straight home, eager to have something to eat after all of the fucking I had today. I park inside the garage and walk into the kitchen by the adjoining door.

After a long bath, I choose grey sweatpants and a navy shirt before heading down again to eat dinner.

As I walk downstairs towards the kitchen Kelly, Lauren, Emily and Demi are already sat down with a chair next to Emily being free for me to sit on. “Night girls” I say seating next to Emily. “How was your day?” I ask as I start to put some salad on my plate.

“Just the normal amount, nothing special happened,” I say smiling back at her. “What about you? Anything interesting happened today?”

"Same with me." She replies. "No nothing interesting really." She says as she begins eating her pizza while keeping eye contact with me.

"Really?" Emily replies with an interested smile as she bites into it. "Oh yeah, I can taste it! That's so weird but cool at the same time!"

"It's just weird to me!" Demi replies.

"Well, thanks, Emily. Glad someone appreciates my creativity!" Kelly responds.

“Well, that’s different but tasty for sure. Demi says it’s weird but already ate half her slice, so I think that everyone liked it” I say smiling at Kelly so she knows I’m on her side here

"Thanks, darling!" Kelly replies happily to know that I'm enjoying her food. "So how was your day in school Nick? Did you learn anything?" She asks before giggling a bit at her joke.

“I did. I even joined the debate club, so it was a very productive day.” I say before taking another bite of my slice of pizza. “What about work? Something happened that hold dad back there?”

"Very interesting," Kelly replies as she eats her salad. "Your father's at some work dinner with the Mayor so he won't be back for a while but for some reason plus ones weren't allowed so I couldn't go with him."

While Kelly believed dad when he used this excuse what she didn't realise is that it actually means he's bringing one of his side chicks to the dinner.

"Wow! The mayor!" Lauren says "That's cool."

"It is," Kelly replies. "And very important too."

“Maybe next time he can invite the mayor over. I’m sure he would appreciate your cooking skills. I think he would like the orange zest in the sauce too” I say looking around to see if the girls like that idea too

"Yeah, why not! I'm sure he's a busy man but maybe we could invite him over!" Kelly says as she and the rest of the girls nod while they finish their food.

"That was beautiful Mrs King!" Emily says.

"Yeah, that was lovely mum," Demi adds.

"Thank you, girls. I'm glad you liked it." Kelly replies with a big smile.

After finishing my food I look at Kelly and ask “Any deserts today, or can we start taking off the table?”

"No, sorry. But I think there's some ice cream in the freezer if you want." Kelly replies. Lauren, Emily and Demi all clear their part of the table and go upstairs after they say no to dessert.

“Thanks,” I say grabbing my plate and leaving it in the sink before grabbing the ice cream. “Wanna share?” I offer her

"Thanks, Nick," she replies, smiling at me. "You're so sweet," she says walking up to me and hugging me. While hugging she says. "But seriously I think it'll be best if I lay off the dairy. How about you go up to your room and finish some homework while I clean up here?"
