Chapter 12
by FredWeasleyLives1
Where should I go?
Hollywood, here I come
My laptop is beeping which means that someone is trying to call me. I can think of only one person who would try to contact me in this way. The vast majority of my college friends live right here in the dorm. They wouldn't call me. They would just knock on my door. It would have to be someone who is a considerable distance away from me. I took a quick glance at the airline ticket in my hand and then I hit the correct key to engage my phone app. The bearded face of a certain friend of mine popped up on the screen.
"Hello Portia," James greeted.
"I have been thinking about you, James," I grumbled.
"Are you okay?" James asked as he noticed my face for the first time. "You don't look so good."
"This place has gotten a little crazy," I grumbled while waving my ticket around so my wayward friend could see it.
"What's going on?" James pushed. "Is there something that I can help you with?"
"You can get me out of here," I suggested.
"Ah, I see that you still have that ticket I gave you," James beamed with a smile.
"I think that it is time that I used it," I blurted out.
"Perhaps we can help each other," James wondered.
"Do think that I could a flight tonight?"
"Yeah, I think so," James agreed. "Call me when you get a flight booked."
"I better sign off and make the necessary arrangements," I spoke to end end the conversation."
I opened up my web browser so I could access the site of the nearest airport. I was grateful that I was able to get a flight today so I wouldn't miss as much class. I knew that I should call my parents so they would know where I was at. They weren't on board with my idea until they heard about my breakup with Kaitlyn. I packed my lightest clothes in my suitcase along with a few other necessities. I called James to tell him that I had everything ready to go and I was pleased to find out that he could pick me up when my plane landed and that I would be crashing at his place. I knew that there was just one thing that I needed to do so I headed to the lounge to tell all of my friends where I was going who just happened to all be gathered around the television.
"May I have your attention please?" I blared.
"What is it, Red?" Zack jibed as everybody looked at me.
"I will be going to Hollywood tonight to visit James," I told my group.
"I wish that I could go to," Kaitlyn sighed wistfully.
"That would not be a good idea," I refused. "The main reason that I am going on this quick trip is to give myself a momentary breather from you. I think it will help me to heal."
"I understand," Kaitlyn murmured.
"When are you leaving?" Abbie wondered.
"I have to be at the airport by eight," I revealed.
"I can drive you," Chris offered.
I was a bundle of nerves during dinner because my suitcase was waiting for me against the wall. For the first time, I was not tempted to look over at Kaitlyn during dinner. Even though I was a little sad because of the breakup, I knew that I had made the right decision since Kaitlyn and I would have just got on each others' nerves otherwise. I thought about what might happen next while taking a bite of my nachos. I could not help but think about everything that happened between Becca and myself last night. This was definitely something that I was going to mention to James. Chris and I got up from the table after our dinners were finished and he carried my suitcase to his car for me. I should have been excited to go on this adventure but I couldn't get a smile on my face for some reason.
"How are you feeling, Portia?" Chris probed.
"I honestly don't know," I replied in a voice barely above a whisper.
"It will probably take a while for you to get over this," Chris advised me.
"Do you want to hear something funny?" I offered.
"Sure," Chris agreed.
"I told you that Becca shared her bed with me last night," I reminded my friend.
"How can I forget that?" Chris laughed.
"Well... the funny thing is..." I stuttered while blushing bright red.
"You don't have to be embarrassed," my athletic friend briefly chastised me. "I am your friend. I won't laugh at you... too much."
"Oh, very funny!" I bit back as I tried and failed to hold back a smile.
"Yeah, I thought it was," Chris needled which caused me to give his right arm a light punch. "So what was so funny?"
"Sleeping next to Becca caused me to feel a spark for her," I confessed while blushing again.
"Do you think that you would even have a chance with her?" Chris prodded.
"She did tell me that she is bisexual," I revealed.
"The plot thickens!" Chris whistled.
I think that we were both stunned by my revelation since we did not say anything for the rest of the trip. I was nervous since I had never traveled that far before. Chris helped me load my orange suitcase onto the moving rack and then we hugged goodbye. I marched to the departure gate with my ticket in hand with a determined posture. Even though I was excited about my trip, there was one thing that scared me and that was Jasmin. She threatened me when I saw James off on his journey. I thought about how I wanted to deal with her and an idea came to my mind. The idea was very repulsive to me, but sometimes **** measures are necessary.
How do I deal with my new enemy?
