Then...?
Hi!
?Wha??? I vision was still blurry as I opened my eyes. The pressure in my head was gone as well as the energy that was overwhelming my body just moments ago. Feeling was returning to my body, but I still didn?t know where I was. I tried to look around, but my neck refused to move an inch.
Feeling the hard floor with my hand, I figured out I was laying on the floor next to the couch. I tried to get up, but my arms felt like they were chained to the carpet. Colors swam around my head still, refusing to formulate into the objects that they were. I blinked as something moved over my head, blocking out the lights from above from view.
?Hi!? It said, and I blinked again.
?What?? My eyes started to focus better.
?Hi,? The cheery voice repeated. The fuzz that was my vision cleared away, and I saw who was talking to me.
I jumped, because for the second time her face was right next to mine, those big eyes staring at me. It reminded me of a kitten?s stare; Fragile and innocent, but curious and playful too.
?Uh, hi to you too? Wait a minute, you decide to talk now!?? She was grinning from ear to ear as her face hovered over mine.
?Yes. You would not want to hear me talk before now,? she replied.
?Why not?? I asked, and then it hit me, ?Oh! You don?t speak English as a first language then?? I thought her speaking had a strange accent to it anyway.
?That?s what this is called? English? It sounds?? She stared into the air between us as she tried to find the right word. I wondered why she knew how to speak English, but didn?t know what it was? Maybe they called it something different from whatever country she came from? I decided that was probably the answer.
??Strange. I like my language more,? She said each word like she was singing a song. Each syllable was a note, and it seemed to be a very cheerful tune right now.
?Why are you so happy, uh? I didn?t get your name before? what is it??
?My name?? Her cheery voice gave way to a sadder note, ?My name? I don?t know??
I was floored even more than I was now, ?You don?t know your name??
Her eyes had a distant quality about them. I probably got that glazed over looked when I was thinking about what I was going to have for dinner?
I looked around a bit while she explored whatever she was remembering. She lifted her body a bit in her thoughts, looking through the window behind me. Her hands were perched on my chest, but I felt little pressure from them. I looked a little farther down and saw that she was lying on me again! Her petite frame settled nicely on me, her slender build able to fit completely on me, even though I was rather slender myself.
?Sorry to interrupt your thoughts, but why are you laying on me?? She snapped out of her memory trance and looked at me. A smile crossed her face yet again. It made her face illuminate and her eyes glow with a soft light? AKA it made her look very cute!
?Oh! Is it not a custom here to do that? You seem to be on your back quite a bit Steven, and I woke up on top of you in that machine?? Her glow shrank a bit as she mentioned the ?machine?.
I felt my face get hot when she noticed I ended up on my back a lot. It isn?t my fault that I am unlucky and end up like that!
?Why would you think it was a custom here? Where did you come from in the first- Wait a minute! How did you know my name?? I sat up sharply, making her eyes widen in surprise. She didn?t stop laying on me, nor cease looking at me from such a close proximity. Her back was bent very far back, too far back. I laid down again almost as fast as I sat up.
?Holy crap! Did I hurt you at all!? I?m so sorry, I really am!?
She stared at me with growing curiosity, ?I am not injured Steven. I feel rather healthy right now.?
?But your back! I was bent so far? are you a gymnast?? I had never seen someone?s back bend so far without hurting themselves. She had have had a lot of gymnastics or dancing to get that flexible!
?Gymnast? No, I am not that. I am fine Steven, I guess I have a high tolerance for being bent.? She stretched a bit, her arms pressing twice the weight before on me, making me feel like a kitten was on my chest.
?How do you know my name??
?You told me,? She said simply
?No I didn?t? Did Greg tell you when you were in the truck??
She cringed at the mention of Greg. I could understand. I bet Greg could swallow her whole if he had enough time and patience on his hands. Luckily, Greg would rather inhale a pizza than try to eat petite girls, namely because it?s easier to eat. Oh, and also because cannibalism is frowned upon in many societies, including ours?
The girl luckily stopped me from thinking about what would happen if Greg found a girl made of pizza, ?No, he did not tell me anything. You did.?
?I can?t remember when I? Oh! You mean I told you when I was sleeping??
?Yes. Why can you not remember?? Her face looked concern, and a note of worry panged in with her pleasant voice.
?I must have been sleep-talking,? I am one of the sad victims of sleep talking. I tend to blurt out personal information while napping, dozing, or otherwise relaxing while unconscious. This entertains Greg to never ending glee as I unwittingly tell him about my personal journal writings to how much I want to get a pogo stick some day.
?And you can not remember when you are? ?sleep talking??? She cocked her head to one side slightly as she tried to understand my little snoozing habit.
?Yea, I can?t remember much of anything when I am asleep??
?Are you injured?? Her voice quivered as her eyes became sad.
?No! I?m fine. Not being able to remember things when sleeping is normal for people. I just talk during it because I am weird,? I smiled at her, and she instantly lightened up again.
?That is good!? She exclaimed as she jumped off of me. I got to my feet as quickly as possible, but it was not fast enough. I saw the girl walking towards the middle of the room and looking around.
?Whatcha doing?? I inquired as I walked towards her.
?Exploring?? She said as she scanned my house. I casually kicked some dirty magazines under the couch while I pretended to look around as well.
She made a little happy sound as she darted off into my house. I followed her, hoping that she wouldn?t discover any of my many ?Artworks? around the house?
Where is she heading?
