"Here's the thing, Pam," he said. "I need the same thing you need. If the girls at school see me as a cool guy who can date a college woman, they're more likely to be interested in me. So, if you want me to go with you to your events, you have to go with me to some of my events."

"You know, real dates. School dances, ice skating, the movies."

"What about Cindy?"

Was she suggesting a threesome? Before he could go further, Pam interrupted his thoughts. "If you have any interest in her, dating her sister will spoil those plans."

"You can tell her we're just faking," he said. "But nobody else."

Pam drove silently for a few minutes. "All right," she finally said. "If Saturday goes okay, I'll do a fake date with you. After that, if we're still friendly, two for me, one for you."
