Chapter 17
by Felix715
What does Iris decide?
Her own room
"Thanks but I think I'm going to get back to my room. I should get my things together for class tomorrow." Iris tells her.
"Ok. Well, if you change your mind, feel free to stop by. I'll just be hanging out." Lydia says. The two girls part ways and Iris takes the stairs up to the fourth floor.
Entering her own room, Iris examines the school supplies she found in her bag earlier. A royal blue satchel bag for carrying her things that matches her uniform nicely, a few folders for holding school work, and a small pencil bag full pens and pencils. Not a lot but it covers the basics. Iris organizes her things in the satchel to have it all ready for tomorrow.
Having done everything she can to prepare for tomorrow, Iris decides it best to get something to eat and call it an early night. She makes her way down to the cafeteria for dinner. Hardly knowing anyone at the school, it's no surprise she doesn't run into anyone she recognizes. Iris orders her dinner and quietly eats alone in a corner at an empty table. Most of the students ignore her, only warranting a few quick glances here and there from a few.
Iris finishes her meal and exits the cafeteria, making her way to the girls' dormitory. On the walk back she thinks about the school and the current situation she is in. Her father, in debt, has basically sold her to his old friend to marry his son. While she isn't exactly ready to get married, the deal doesn't stipulate they have to get married right away, just engaged. And Arthur is a nice a guy; when Iris decides she is ready to marry, she would hope it's to someone like him. But is he really the one she wants to marry? They are old friends and that is a good start. He is also a good looking guy who is well off, she certainly could do worse. On the other hand, does she really want to help her father out in this way? Iris sighs, it's a lot to consider. Especially being **** to attend a school she didn't want to be at. But, like with Arthur, the situation could suit her needs; even if everything else fell apart, having a good education from a privileged school could take her far in life and out of the hole her father keeps falling in.
Reaching the entryway, Iris sees it is starting to get late. She could go back to her room and get rested for her first day of classes at the new school or she could visit a friend. Her old friend Victoria had mentioned they might hang out later tonight and her new friend Lydia had invited her to stop by if she wanted.
