Her cell rings

Cassie answered the phone by instinct, she was furious and she barely registered that it was ringing. It wasn't her husband's ring tone so she didn't have to listen to him. Cassie made a conscious effort to be kind as she saw the number but didn't recognize it.

At least it was too late to be scam call.

"Hello?" Cassie almost barked into the phone, her temper still flared as her feet pounded down the sidewalk away from her house. She wasn't even sure where she was going.

"Hey Cass..." a voice said and Cassie felt her heart lurch into her throat and suddenly she wasn't thinking about the argument...or even her husband...it was her ex on the phone and they hadn't talked in a couple of years.
