Help the man.

Dago was surprised by the small demon, but he didn’t look like much of a threat. Besides, he was practically in tears and looked about as strong as a small child.

“What’s wrong?” Dago asked, still a little wary.

“Come with me, please, you have to help me!” the man cried, continuing to tug on Dago sleeve.

Dago obliged the short man and followed him around the castle. It seemed they were avoiding it entirely, which was completely alright with Dago. Now that he thought of it, the small man looked kind of familiar. He couldn’t put his finger on where he had seen him before, though. It was bugging him, but he didn’t think much of it while the man was dragging him toward what looked like a hole in the ground.

“My cousin has fallen down there and I can’t reach him, please help me get him out!” the man wailed.

Dago frowned, but got down on the ground and peered into the hole. He didn’t hear anything down there, but it must be too far for him to hear. He wasn’t sure how he would get this man’s cousin, but he’d already agreed to help. He reached down into the hole as far as he could, but couldn’t feel anyone or anything except more dirty. He frowned and slowly lowered himself into the hole as carefully as he could.

Dago accidentally lost his grip and went tumbling into the darkness. After a few moments, he landed with a thud on his back. He groaned in pain, but was generally alright. He could see alright in the dark and looked up to see a small pinpoint of light. Damn, this hole was deep.

“Hey! Can you hear me!?” he cried, hoping the man might here him.

“I’m so sorry, mister. I hope you can forgive me,” came the man’s voice, along with some choked sobbing.

Dago didn’t know what the hell was about to happen, but he knew he’d been duped. Fuck. He carefully picked himself up off the ground, and found the tunnel he found himself in was big enough for him to stand in without much trouble. He could see two paths, one to the right and another to the left.
