Hear them out.

"If you destroy yourself, then nothing else will ever be. Not even us!"

After an insufferably strenuous span of time, I, eventually, opened my eyes. Before me, the spirit was gesturing to other vague apparitions beside them. There were a handful, all afloat in the black vacuum, before they suddenly disappeared in a blurry ripple.

The spirit released a small smile. "I'm glad you stopped to listen; there are a few people who I think you should hear out!" A clear wave of relief was in its enigmatic face, when, suddenly, it rippled and began to distort. The form fizzled and popped until it took the shape of a girl, quite young in appearance, eyes emblazoned with pupils as bright as a star.

"Follow me!"

She flew off into the untethered space. After another moment of pause, I took pursuit.

"I know what you're thinking." Her short bob of hair bounced as she floated before me. "Am I really you? Am I a symbol of you? What exactly am I?"

We drifted around a deep bellowing cloud, which simmered away into embers.

"I, as well as my friends," she paused, "well, SOME of them, anyway, are your emergency buttons! We popped into action when it became clear that you intended to erase yourself out of the picture along with everything else. And I'll have you know we are very serious about a world owner going all kamikaze on us!"

Silence continued to drape us in its embrace as we approached the faint, fuzzy outline of a building resembling a temple. One made out of ambiguous cosmic matter.

"Come on in," she gestured. And suddenly, the doors flew open, giving way to a cold, rampant wind, littered with gleams of light.

She was already gliding in; a butterfly through the hole of a big, gaping electric fence.
