He stops her by grabbing her hand

Berating himself, Dirk quickly reacted.

Dirk reached out and grabbed her hand, and in that moment their hands touched, Dirk felt an electricity that he had never felt before, not even with Alicia, course through his body. Looking at Hotaru, Dirk knew she had felt that same energy coursing through her own body.

Quickly shaking his head to clear it, Dirk spoke up first, "P-please don't go Hotaru. I really do enjoy your company," it sounded corny to Dirk, but it was the only thing he could think of.

Dirk watched as a slight blush came up on her pale cheeks as she smiled, "Alright, I'll stay," as she took a place next to him, not letting go of his hand.

For the next few minutes, the Dirk and Hotaru spent the next few moments in comfortable silence as each of them wondered what to do next.
