He got blasted in the crossfire of a super battle!

So Alex Blackwood was just your typical guy, he had a menial job, average social life, and was about to ask that one girl who he's been pining over (in a total obliveous way). That was his life until he just happened to walk right in the outskirts of a typical super battle. This is for the most part normally safe unless you happen to get hit with some kind of wayward attack or debris. Unlikely as it is it still happened that day and blasted Alex with some sort of strange beam causing him to black out from the blast.
