Chapter 10
by robyna
Does Rot follow Rene, hang around to talk to Madame Beauvais, or head for English?
He goes to English
Chasing after Rene would be counter-productive. A woman like that would recognize any sign of desperation. But his years of experience had taught him to hide the signs and he wasn't going to yield to temptation. As for Madame Beauvais, he'd definitely circle back but he had a lot more seeds to get started.
English is Rot's favorite class--even though the teacher is a male. For one thing, Colleen and Briana are in the class. For another, there's a hot cheerleader, Rachel. Rot remembers that he never actually got up the nerve to talk to Rachel the first time he lived this life. Then again, he rarely got up the nerve to talk to any of the hot girls... or even the luke-warm girls.
"Hey, Rachel," he says. "Was that a new routine you guys put on for the football game last Friday." Rot can't remember the game but he is pretty sure the cheerleaders were always trying new cheers.
"Uh, yeah. Did you like it?"
"Well, I liked your part."
"Oh." She giggled, her cafe-au-lait colored skin darkening just a little. "That was an accident."
"Like I said, it made it perfect. Listen, Rachel, I know it's an imposition but I was thinking of trying out for the play but I need someone to read my cues in the audition. Can you help me out?"
"What's wrong with your friends?"
"Well, they're not girls."
"Oh." She giggled again. "Well, I meet that qualification."
"Definitely." Rot made a note that he'd have to figure out what play was coming up. Some private rehearsals would be perfect. "I'll call you and we can get together some time to go over the lines. Okay?"
"Sure, I guess."
"You're a pal." He punched her, very lightly, on the shoulder. Not threatening or romantic, but just a bit of tactile interaction to get her thinking about him as a guy rather than some sexless dweeb.
"If you're all ready for class to start," Mr. Moss said, "perhaps you could take your seats."
Although it had been decades, Rot didn't have to think long to remember his assigned seat--because he sat next to Briana with her incredible legs and super-short miniskirts.
Should he flirt with Briana, pay attention to Mr. Moss, or maybe write a note to Colleen or Rachel?
Does Rot flirt with Briana, listen to the lecture, or send notes?
