Chapter 11
by
Cantalope
What does she remember?
He drove her home one night
"Tom... you drove me home one night didn't you?"
He scratched his neck bashfully, "Well... yeah. You weren't really with it and Sharon sort of disappeared. I didn't really want to leave you with the frat boys."
"That was so sweet!"
He blushed, looking away, "Was nothing. You mind if I...?" He gestured at the bench and she nodded. He took a seat next to her, far enough away to be polite. She shivered. Shame really, she was hoping she could get some of his body warmth. Or at least a barrier to the wind.
"So I'd guess you're not out here in your birthday suit for fun huh?" She blushed, the heat in her cheeks not doing much to stop the cascade of goosebumps rolling over her skin.
"...no."
He coughed, watching the wind kick up waves on the pond, "Would you... like to talk about it?"
She smiled, even as she hugged her arms to her non-existent chest for warmth. He seemed like a really sweet guy... maybe this is what she needed? A chance to vent to a stranger?
"My family was having money trouble so my mom went to the market." He nodded, seeming unsurprised but a little sad.
"Yeah, that's what I figured. People've been having a hard time lately. Lot of my friends have been changing. Wish I could help them." He looked at her for the first time since he sat down and frowned, "You're freezing! Here."
He started taking his jacket off but she waved her hand, "I'm not allowed to wear c-clothes." Her shivering was intensifying and she couldn't feel her butt on the cold wood. He gave her a stern look, "Well I'm not allowing you freeze to death." He slid close to her and wrapped half the jacket around her, slipping an arm around her and pulling her to his chest. It felt amazing.
The enveloping warmth made her sigh and she snuggled closer to him. Her legs were still exposed and her toes were numb but at least her top half was out of the cold.
"Thanks."
"Don't mention it."
They sat for a moment, watching the troubled waters.
"So... did your mom sell anything else?"
"I think you can see the answer to that." Her voice was more bitter than she wanted it to be but she didn't bother hiding her feelings.
"You don't like how you look now?"
She shifted, even now missing the jiggling that usually accompanied the motion, "No. I miss having breasts. I used to be beautiful and now I just look like a boy."
"Hey." The hand not wrapped around her, lifted her chin and turned her head to face him. His eyes were serious but warm, "Don't you ever think you're not beautiful." Their lips were close and Morgan felt her heartbeat quicken. He looked so certain, so convinced she was beautiful. She'd forgotten his face who knew how many times, but she was memorizing it now. A sweet guy who was cute and thought she was beautiful even without her curves? It was like her prayers had been answered.
