"Since you're here, want to spot me on these last benchpresses." Rot had shifted to the freeweights and wasn't sure he would be able to get his last lifts without help.
Colleen looked at him suspiciously, then nodded. "Well, go ahead and lift."
He pushed the weights up, halfway wishing he'd loaded more iron on the bar to impress the girl and halfway wishing he hadn't put so much on because he could barely move it. "Got it," he said when the bar reached the weight holder. "Help me set it--"
Colleen interrupted him by shoving the weights down toward his chest.
"Hey."
"Listen, Rot. I saw you flirting with my twin and I don't want her hurt."
"Hurting her is the last thing on my mind." Other, perhaps, than the normal pain that accompanied breaking a hymen.
She shoved the weights harder into his chest. "I want your promise to back off, leave her alone."
"Or what? You'll kill me here in the weight room. Come on, this is high school. Kids are supposed to flirt, experiment. I mean, that's why they have high school."
