Is he arrested again?
Having a lawyer handy helps
"You're a middle-aged white guy with a lawyer," Eliza said. "Of course you're going to walk."
After an hour of questioning, the cops warned Rick that they'd have follow-up questions and let him, and Eliza, leave. As Eliza had said, the interviews had been quite different from the intensive interrogation he'd gotten when he'd been a homeless guy on the street... even though there hadn't been a crime associated with being homeless and Barbara's car blowing up certainly looked like a murder to him.
"They'll investigate all the local Moslems and blacks," Eliza continued as she ushered Rick into her car. "I'm sure they'll be able to find someone suspicious."
"That sounds a little cynical."
"You think? Oh dear. I thought I was just being realistic. And speaking of realistic, I'm feeling a little tense."
She pulled in front of the gym.
He shrugged. "Free massage is the least I can do. Come on in. But I need to visit with Kat first. Make sure she's okay."
Eliza nodded. "Fine. I'll occupy myself getting naked."
"Yeah. I... I won't be too long."
