Happy Expatriation Day!

Amy and her family showed up at Gene's Hangout, in the arcade room, appearing in the center. This time, the place is packed, and a few patrons gave the arriving ladies a dirty look, inconvenienced by being pushed out of the way by the portal as it formed.

"Seriously, girl, out of all the places in New Pluton?" Shea playfully bopped Amy's head, thinking Gene's Hangout to be some generic video game venue. Amy just stood there, grinning and shaking her head.

"Follow me, Ma. This is the place Brighid and I told you about last year." Amy asked Shea.

"Ooohhhhh!" Shea exclaimed, following Brighid and Amy through the crowd to the cafeteria, going up the stairs next to Adelle, who waved "Hi" at them. Shea was nearly startled, seeing non-human eye colors on Adelle for the first time.

After making their way to a thankfully available table, the three women sat down and sent the required emails to the Plutonian Embassy back in the United states, notifying the embassy of their arrival as political refugees. Thankfully, Plutonian technology was engineered as well as enchanted for maximum compatibility with as many regions as possible, so immigrants and visitors don't have to swap their SIM cards for local ones.

"And now we wait." Amy sighed, setting the cat carrier and letting Dutchess out, since she remained a regular, coming in with Amy instead of Brighid. Shea asked if they should have teleported to a government office instead, but it was pointed out to her that the Capitol was literally next door, so customs agents could walk new arrivals to a dedicated immigration office for magic users. When a female agent arrived with her laptop several minutes later, they were able to intake the new resident on the spot, mainly for human convenience. Two hours later, the Plutonian Empire's population officially increased by an additional three women and a cat.

Afterwards, the O'Rinn family found a nearby apartment down the street, near the city's nuclear power plant. The nuclear stigma helped, as rent was pretty affordable for the futuristic apartments since Plutonians were taking longer than expected to warm up to nuclear technology. Amy and Brighid also helped Shea get acquainted with the area. Within days, Shea got an acting job at a local stage theatre, and prowled for young men at Gene's Hangout on a regular basis. Brighid took a bit longer to warm up to hanging out at the venue, and instead played poker every few nights at a nearby bar for a few months.
