What's next?
Hannah returns and Gabriela improvises
What if Hannah decided to leave her there? Or if the man kicked her out of the hotel? Gabriela would be stranded! How would she get home? There’s no way she could go out into the street in her birthday suit! Just thinking about her encounter with the grungy businessman turned her legs to jelly, going outside would multiply that by a hundred! It was too horrible to even think about-
“Boo!” Hannah gave Gabriela a tug on her shoulders.
“AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!” Gabriela screamed, jumping to her feet. “Where did you come from?!”
“The elevator,” shrugged Hannah, pointing behind her. Crap, Gabriela had been in front of the elevator the entire time? If anyone else had come to the floor…. No, better not to think about that. “Shall we continue where we left off?” Hannah aimed her cellphone up again.
“S-sure, as I was saying, it’s important to improvise and roll with…” Standing half-upright, Gabriela noticed something interesting. A couch! There was a beautiful red couch next to the elevator! It was some sort of waiting area. “…with the punches. Like, sometimes you got to improvise some clothing!”
Gabriela dashed to the couch, ripping one of the cushions in the process. She jumped behind the sofa and got to work.
“Gabby, what are you doing?” Hannah asked, following her friend.
“Improvising! Quick, stand watch, tell me if someone comes.”
“Ugh, fine.” Hannah turned back and stood vigil like a dutiful pup. Well, less stand and more sitting on the couch. It was surprisingly comfy, she could not help but sink her back against the cushions. Behind her, she could hear her friend do terrible things to the furniture. Something was being ripped, torn apart, and Gabriela giggled the most sinister of laughs…
“Ok, you can turn now,” Gabriela told her. She was now clothed once more, or something similar to it. She had ripped the sheath of the cushion, and apparently punched holes into it for her arms and head. The fabric of the makeshift shirt was dirty, looked scratchy, and barely reached down her olive thighs. “How do I look?”
“Like you are wearing the XXI century equivalent of a bankruptcy barrel.”
“Great, so everything is covered!” Gabriela smiled. “If you are lucky enough to find such good cover, there is no need to keep sneaking around,” Gabriela smiled at the camera while pressing the elevator door with her elbow. “You can just ride the elevator down to the lobby and ask for your key.”
The two girls scooted over the small elevator. Gabriela proudly pressed the button to the ground floor, and the doors closed while they began their descent. “Are you sure this is fine? You aren’t exactly what I would call presentable,” Hannah remarked, taking a sweeping shot of her friend’s scruffy new attire.
“S-sure, it’s a bit embarrassing, but at least I know I can hold my head high with my dignity intact.” The elevator stopped and the doors opened. Gabriela’s pride wasn’t strong enough for her to make eye contact with the person entering. She silently scooted herself against the corner of the elevator.
