Chapter 25 by skedlee skedlee

How is your next day?

Hanging out with your best friend

You wake up the next morning refreshed, ready to start your weekend in style. As you get out of bed, you think about what you are going to do this weekend. You have two planned events over the next couple days. First, in about two hours you'll be heading over to your best friend Allen's house to hang out and watch the game. The next step of your itinerary is a brunch party tomorrow at Mary's house.

For now, you have to get ready for your day. Summer is starting to come on strong now, so you set yourself up with a casual set of black basketball shorts and a grey t-shirt with the logo of your college. You lace up a pair of sneakers and you're on your way.

As you exit the building, you see Chelsea finishing up a run. She has a set of headphones in her ears, so you don't speak to her, but she's looking gorgeous, with a faint sheen of sweat covering her skin. You raise a hand in greeting and hold the door open for her, and she waves back as she half jogs in to accept the door from you. The act sets her breasts in a delightful jiggle within her lime green sports bra, and you **** your gaze to remain on her face. As she passes you, heading into the air conditioned halls of your apartment complex, you take what you think is a surreptitious look at her ass, hugged tightly by a pair dark grey running shorts.

You tear your eyes off of her ass and see that's she's meeting your eyes, her face a mix between bemused and chiding. You blush and turn away, wanting to avoid making even a bigger fool out of yourself.

You head to your car, and begin the trip to Allen's house. It's a long drive, over thirty minutes, so your mind wanders and you zone out. You haven't hung out with Allen too much recently, in fact, he and Carrie haven't even met yet. There was a reason for that however, as you had a very embarrassing secret relating to Allen. Back in college, you had a huge crush on his now wife, Rebecca. You were going to ask her out, but Allen swooped in ahead of you, claiming her heart. Despite you trying to move on, your crush on Rebecca had faded little over the years, at least until you met Carrie. In a way, you do feel as if a weight has been lifted on your shoulders; no longer will you have to feel badly over a woman you cared deeply about being with your best friend. Smiling, you turn on the radio, singing along with the music as you look forward to hanging out with Allen and Rebecca.

In no time at all you've reached their house in the suburbs. It's decently sized, as Allen got a well paying job out of college working for a marketing consulting firm. Rebecca went to graduate school and got a doctorate in pharmaceutical chemistry, and she recently started working for one of Simmons Pharmaceuticals' competitors. You get out of your car, and walk up to the front door. You ring the doorbell, and there she is.

She's fairly tall, a brunette with long lean legs and nice perky breasts. She has dark brown hair, going down just past her chin with long bangs that reach her eyebrows. Lastly, she has gorgeous blue eyes that perfectly complement her angular face.

"John." She says in delight, coming in to hug you in greeting. You're not quite sure what to do with your hands, and eventually settling to place them on her back, patting in what you think is a platonic manner. "How are you? I haven't seen you in ages. Are you avoiding me because I took a job at Cooper-Cardinal?"

"You got me. I felt suuuuuper betrayed by that" you reply, hoping the sarcasm in your voice is evident. The smile from Rebecca indicates that she's enjoying your ribbing, and she turns to lead you into the house.

"Allen is in the basement with his man cave setup. Oh, and sorry for my get-up, I'm working on in the yard today. Those bushes won't trim themselves." You nod, having been to their house before. And to be honest, there is no way you'd complain about what her clothing decisions. She's wearing a short pair of jean shorts, exposing a scandalous amount of flesh. Up top she's wearing a plain white tee-shirt that is transparent enough to show off the dark colored bra she has on underneath. You sigh to yourself, seeing her has just enlightened you to the fact that even with a loving girlfriend like Carrie, you still have a minor crush on your best friend's wife.

You head downstairs and see the familiar sight of your best friend. He's a classically handsome bloke, being several inches taller than you with a thick head of blonde hair. At college, you were always kind of in his shadow, but you hardly minded. Besides, he was in a relationship the entire time so when you went out to bars, he was always your wingman, a job he excelled at.

"John! It's been too long."

"Hey man." You reach in to bump fists and head down to sit on the couch. You have to admit, Allen does have a pretty slick set up. Two couches surround three large plasma screen T.V.s, each over 50" in length. While you won't be taking advantage of them today, they come in handy during football season. Today though, you'll be watching his beloved Knicks, who Allen is hoping will get blown out. This is due to the fact that Allen wants the Knicks to tank for a good lottery pick, and his fervor in rooting for losses has gotten higher and higher over the past couple of years.

The afternoon progresses nicely, and you have a few beers, but not enough to really get drunk. The game is actually enjoyable and the Knicks comeback from a double digit deficit to win, much to Allen's chagrin. You hang around to watch the post game show, which largely involves the television on mute while Allen criticizes everyone involved, namely the owner, GM, coach, refs, and players. You've been around him long enough to know the best response, which is to nod and agree.

Eventually Allen tires himself out, and it coincides with Rebecca coming downstairs to join you. She's finished working outside and has showered and changed, donning a sky colored baby blue sundress. She sits down next to you, crossing her legs which causes the hem of the dress to ride up and exposing the entirety of her thighs. You **** yourself to look away, and are glad that neither of them saw you eyeing Rebecca.

"Well, it's probably time for me to go." Rebecca and Allen both protest, and as you get up your stomach growls, betraying the fact that you haven't eaten much food today.

"Please, John stay for dinner. It'll be done in fifteen minutes and we'll get to spend more time with you." Rebecca pleads. "You can even tell us all about your new girlfriend. Carrie, right? We want to hear all about her."

Allen jumps in as well, "Yeah man. You totally got to stay for dinner. We barely get to hang out now, and with your girlfriend out of town I want to take advantage."

You hesitate, trying to parse the best option for you. While you want to hang out with Allen and Rebecca more, you're not sure if you should risk it with your crush on Rebecca.

Do you stay or do you go?
