She tilts her head, "We? Intruder has yet to do anything shy, but I wouldn't know"

Now it's your turn to tilt your head, "...Intruder? Would that be me?"

She nods, "Yes, you have intruded upon me, thus you are Intruder"

"Makes enough sense, but I have an actual name. It's Sir Maphe"

Her face messes up, did you say something that offended her?

"I don't get Intruder's kind. Non-changing names are given to non-changing things. A rock is a rock no matter how much time passes, and will only ever do what a rock does. People do a lot of things, though. Right now I am Speaker, until I stop speaking and then I am Listener for as long as you are Speaker"

You toss the idea around in your head. It sounds complicated, but in practice it wasn't THAT outlandish. We do similar things in our own society after all, whenever we don't know somebody's name we refer to them by descriptors, but what if you need to pick one person out of a group? In a school setting, Teacher would be unable to call upon a single Student unless some other modifier was given. Maybe in that case you just have to point? It makes you want to observe their society in action, but for the time being you only have access to one of their species, who you return your attention back towards now.
