Lance said, "You know, I've really enjoyed talking to you, Kev."

"I have, too," said Kev, nodding.

"If you want, I don't live far from here. I've got something to drink at my house. It's certainly cheaper than drinking at this bar." Lance's chest pounded, as he considered, Am I really trying to pick up this guy?

"That sounds cool," said Kevin. "I'm game. Let's go."

Lance led the way back to his apartment, chatting with Kevin along the way. While he tried to keep up his end of the conversation, his mind was spinning, not sure what he was doing, how to go about it, or even whether he was really doing what he was thinking about.

They arrived back at Lance's apartment and he opened the door, allowing Kevin to precede him in. He shut the door behind him. Kevin was standing in the middle of the room, waiting...
