Chapter 27

Curious how this will play out.
Grabbing the essentials.
Robin hurriedly tossed together a few items in his small overnight bag. He was going to be spending the evening at Lauren's and activities were most likely not going to be conducted at low volume. His daughters had requested that if the volume was going to be above a certain level that he please take it elsewhere, and he did his best to comply with it. He'd already gotten in the headspace of being out and about when he heard two soft taps at his window. He spun about and saw the window opposite closing and the same note fluttering gently against his window.
He smiled broadly, stepping to the window. Quickly he retrieved the item and read it over carefully. He glanced at the clock, noting the time. Perhaps... well, he was planning on showering before Lauren picked him up anyway. If he started the dinner so the girls had it ready... His breath came a little harder. She was going to leave it open... And Lauren was planning on picking him up at... shit, Seven.
Robin pulled the Flip phone from his pocket and rapidly scrolled down the contacts until he found Lauren's number. He pushed the button and was rewarded after a few moments with a "Hey Baby..."
"You sound happy," Robin smiled at his girlfriend's voice. "So... what would you say if I told you that I... started kinda talking to the girl next door."
"I'd say be careful," Lauren's voice admonished over the phone. "I'd also say that she's cute as hell, and again, be careful."
"Right. Don't want another situation like with Becca," Robin sighed, remembering one of his former girlfriends. The one that had made life difficult for Lauren. He couldn't blame her for not wanting to go through that shit again.
"Bingo. Give the man a cookie," Lauren snickered over the phone. "Speaking of which, I'm at the store right now. Which sounds better? Coconut or Cinnamon?"
"Both of course," Robin said. "Hey, what would you say if I asked you to pick me up about... two or three hours later?"
"I'd ask why, because I really was looking forward to seeing you," Lauren spoke directly.
"I was kinda hoping to spend a little time with Vee." Robin admitted. "She wrote me a note, and, I'd like to follow through on it tonight."
"Ooooh... another note? Still haven't talked to her though? What does it say? You did remind her that you were at my place tonight." The sound of a cash register demanding that Lauren remove an unscanned item from the bagging area resounded over the phone.
"I thought I did, but... Damn it, I didn't date it. So... well, she was suggesting that... she said she might leave the lights on again tonight."
"Damn it... and I'm in public or I'd want to hear all about this. So... uhm... think she'd mind if I stopped over at your place? I mean... she did get to see me..." Lauren's voice became sultry as the sound of a canned announcement blared nearby.
Invite Lauren to the Premier?
