Chapter 7

And that kills the moment. What now?
Grab her a tissue.
You quickly reach over and grab a tissue from the box on the end table near the couch. "Here." You hand it to her and she takes it gladly.
"Thanks, but I'm okay." She shakes her head. "I think it was just some dust or ACHOO!" She reared her head back and sneezed again. The sudden **** of it almost makes you jump. "Ugh...maybe it's allergies." She says. "That happens this time of ye-ACHOO!" Melody sneezes again, this time into the tissue. Followed by another sneeze, and then another.
"That doesn't bode well." You sigh and put the back of your hand against her forehead. You are dismayed to find out how warm it is. "Your forehead's hot." You say simply.
"Why, thank you. You're head looks good too." She says with a smile. "Don't worry about it. I've been wrapped up in a blanket. I'm probably just-ACHOO-heated up."
"I think you may be coming down with something from walking home in the rain." You say. Melody sighs.
"Fuckin' A. Of course it would happen with finals coming up." She groans and closes her eyes, then sneezes.
"Well, just in case, you should probably get some sleep." You say. "If this is a fever, we should kick its ass as soon as possible."
"Fine, fine." She groans. "Just as I was getting comfy."
"Sorry." You shrug. "I don't want to have to wait on you hand and foot if you do get sick." That was mostly a lie; you enjoy taking care of her when she's feeling ill. It makes you feel important, like she needs you.
"Aww." She said in mock disappointment. "But I like having Nurse Jack around."
"If you're feeling sick tomorrow, and if you're lucky, maybe I'll be your personal **** for the day."
"Yay!" Melody giggles. "I love it when-ACHOO-you're at my beck and call."
"Don't go getting over eager." You warn her. "No sending me out on any wild snipe hunts this time."
"Oh, come on!" She says. "It was so cute the way you asked everyone for Tylenol AM." She smiles at you. "How was I to know that you actually believed me when I said it existed?"
"I searched for three hours." You groan. "No more. You get meds of MY CHOICE."
"Party pooper." She sighes, but maintains a smile. The she sneezes again, this time all over your shirt.
"Lovely." You say.
"Sorry." She rubs her nose. "I guess I'm going to bed. Can you-ACHOO-grab me some medicine out of the bathroom cabinet over the sink?"
Can you?
