Google it, the answer to everything.

"We need to do some research. I wonder if anything like this ever happened to anyone else?" you say. Andy simply nods, staring somewhat blankly at the white walls of the dorm room. You realize you're going to have to take charge, and pull out your phone to try Google.

"Ring changes gender" you type. The Google Chrome app returns with a page exclaiming "No Internet Access." That's weird, I've got three bars of 4G. You try again, several times, even resorting to the built-in Safari app, but nothing works. To test your Internet, you try to load Facebook and it works fine.

"There's something about these rings... First they somehow make me really into having them like some Gollum shit, then I can't even Google them!" you exclaim in frustration. Andy turns toward you, looking a little less dead and a little more curious.

"What do you mean with the Gollum thing?"

"Well, when I saw you had one, for some reason I got super jealous and then I was hella relieved when I saw I had one too. Even though they just seem like shitty old rings, logically."

"That's interesting, I had the same sort of thing. I got really happy when I saw the ring, even though I didn't really think it was anything special when I thought about it," Andy responds.

The two of you sit for a few moments, perplexed, until Andy turns to you again. "You know, we don't even know if our rings do the same thing. You should probably try yours on."

"No way! When you put it on it looked like you were either dying or trying to shit out a fucking car!"

He laughs. "But like seriously, what if yours does something completely different? Let's see. Plus you gotta go through the same shit I did if it hurts like mine."

Apparently there's no way out of this. You sigh, and turn to your drawer to pick up your ring.
