Goodbye's Handler Report (Ending #7)

Objective Status: As handler for the Goodbye Girls, Ciao was tasked with putting an end to a hostage situation in Washington. The field agent, Tschau, had gone rogue, holing up inside the weapons testing laboratory with a group of captives. Her accomplice, Promethia, took hostages elsewhere inside the tech wing at the same time, and later escaped with those hostages and valuable cybernetics research. Ciao was advised to handle Tschau as his top priority and to find Despedida, trapped somewhere inside the wing, as a secondary objective.

Unfortunately, Ciao's mission ended in tragedy. The fire-team originally assigned to monitor the situation reported that Ciao disabled security on his own-- a feat in and of itself-- only to be murdered in cold blood by the rogue agent upon reaching his destination. While no one witnessed the murder, the wound clearly indicates a blade was used to slit his throat, after which, he was left to bleed out. This was a cruel end for one of the finest agents we've ever assigned as handler.

This will surely mark the end of the Goodbye Girls as well. Operation Dark Humor ended in the disappearance of Vaarvel and Au Revoir as well; we've yet to determine if the events here and in London are correlated. Despedida was later recovered, thankfully in good health, but the science team was nearly a total loss. We're lucky that Despedida is such a wiz with machinery herself, or else, we'd be in even more dire straits than we currently find ourselves.

We've no idea what triggered Tschau's betrayal, nor Vaarvel's, nor Au Revoir's. As I prepare to tender my own resignation, that's the worst part of all of this: our answers seem to have died along with the unfortunate handler of the Goodbye Girls. I can only assume, reading Ciao's previous reports, that Tschau was driven by her hatred of Bortnik to wage war against the very field of cyber-technology. If that is the case, then other CEDIT facilities had best begin shoring up their defenses for the possibility of an attack in the near future.
