Going a little too meta, probably... (Take me on an adventure)

Once again, in the middle of the day, you find yourself on the internet, on hand in your panties, the other on the mouse as you browse some website you found years ago (it surprises you to remember just how long you've been visiting this thing) called chyoa.com. You browse idly, looking at so many different tags that you are reminded just how many things you can get off to. Being still a virgin at 27 has revealed the danger of waiting so long: you look into way too many possibilities online and accumulate more and more potential fetishes.

Right now, you feel like a laugh along with getting off, so you go back to read through one of your own stories. It was silly from the get-go, you know. The idea of an international cabal controlling everyone's minds to make their global conquest go essentially unnoticed is funny as-is, but just gets better when coupled with the age-old adage of "sex sells." Illuminati confirmed, Half-Life 3 still in question.

Memes aside, you start to read. A few chapters in, you find your mind straying. You glance up at the TV where you have YouTube running via your gaming console. That being the main way you consume entertainment, you have idly wondered how this story would work with it. Completely independent creators uploading their own content, circumventing most major corporations. Maybe it would be part of the upload process, explaining why it can take so long for videos to upload and go public? That's the only thing you can think of that would also guarantee videos without advertisements having the same effect.

You shake your head, turning back to your laptop. You've been looking back at this story too much lately. It's gotten the idea stuck in your head.

Still... it would be pretty hot, right? No control, no worries...

You're still out of a job. You've never really had one thanks to your parents supporting you through college. The one job you technically did have fired you the Japanese way (just stopped giving you work) after you had a major mental/emotional breakdown in the middle of the night before you were scheduled for the lunch shift on Halloween. That's probably part of why you find fantasies where you have no control, nothing to decide, no need to find your own way so appealing, if also terrifying.

Too bad you also have issues being a hermit. You had no trouble "adjusting" to lockdown during that pandemic a while back. Nothing really changed much-- although, you were pretty annoyed, since you had just started trying to get over your social anxiety/shyness issues and **** yourself to leave the house sometimes and actually meet people. Three years after moving here, and you still have no friends here. You get along fine with your neighbors, but you don't have anyone to hang out or go out with or anything.

Finally, though, the lockdown has fully lifted. You can get started again...

So, why are you still sitting here, choosing to lose yourself in a fantasy world of your own design?

If only this was all real. Then, something could come through the video you're listening to, some whispered encouragement. You could take a shower and get dressed, prepare to go out this evening to a local club or bar, leave your headphones at home and try to keep your eyes up to make eye contact possible.

You sigh.
