Try as she might to ignore it and press on, Makoto just couldn’t let this lie. There was no way, just no way that the events that could have transpired had happened the way Ann and Haru described them. It wasn’t that Makoto was skeptical to the point of disbelieving them entirely, they were both collectively dressed in just Ann’s jacket after all. It’s just that Makoto felt like she needed to see for herself before she could accept that that is what had actually happened. And of course, if by chance she could find any of the girls’ normal clothes up there, that would be preferable to taking some tracksuits.

A cloudy, grey sky greeted Makoto as she arrived at the school rooftop. The weather was appropriate for a sudden storm of some kind or another, but what first caught Makoto’s eye was the scene in front of her. A garden hose placed carelessly in front near Haru’s planter boxes, with puddles everywhere all around it along the entire surface of the rooftop. That certainly seemed to confirm the part of the story where Ann and Haru got all wet, at least.

Following the path of her friends’ story, Makoto then turned to the ladder next to the rooftop access door. There certainly was space to lay clothes to dry, but if there were clothes there before there wasn’t anything now. Giving the rungs a feel, she could tell that they were damp, but whether it was from soaked clothing or just the hose or even rain there was no way to tell.

But aside from those points, that was it. If any clothes were scattered around here at one point, Makoto couldn’t find any; not even a single sock. She frowned as she took one last look around the rooftop. “No clothes, no wind, nothing except for a wet rooftop. This was a waste of time...” she grumbled, as she started to take her leave.
