Chapter 8
by Chip_Arranger
No more people knocking on the door, what to do?
Go watch the movie, finally
I walked out of the room a few minutes after Mary left, and ascended the stairs onto the living floor where everyone was watching some movie.
The rest of the evening went without any trouble. Nobody was acting weird at all, it was just like when I had hung out with my group of friends before, just there weren't any other guys here.
Eventually though, night fell. I'm a morning person, so I decided to hit the hay around 10. Becca joined me as well, since she was also someone who hated staying up late.
"Are we driving you crazy yet?" she asked as I climbed into bed.
"Not crazy, just simply insane," I quipped.
"I'm sorry," she said, then added, "You're really sweet for willing to still come along with us, even if none of your other guy friends could've come".
"Hey, it's not like I don't enjoy hanging out with y'all. Honestly, it probably would've been the equally, if not more, insane if the others could've come along," you amended.
"Yeah, Jackson is a little bit of a nutcase sometimes," Becca said with a laugh."They're all kinda fun though. I'm glad you're here though."
"I'm glad I could come here too, it's going to be quite a fun vacation."
"Just try not to get to annoyed with us here. Even if some people don't say it, I know everyone is grateful for you being here. Do you know what Emily said to me before you came upstairs during the show? She said 'I'm so glad that John decided to come, he's honestly so brave for willing to put up with us all.'"
Everyone seemed to be using the phrase "putting up with us". Was that some sort of foreshadowing? No, it couldn't be. I was just looking too deep into things because of Mary's comments and Paige's warnings.
"Even Grace," Becca continued, "expressed that she was grateful for you coming. I don't exactly remember what she said, but only good things were said."
Okay, that was making me feel a lot better. Grace wasn't the type of person to tell it how it is, and her saying that she was grateful was something.
"Just know that we don't dislike you being here. Far from it," Becca finished.
We both talked a little while longer before it was around 10:30, when sleep finally took over. I brought my arms around Becca as I fell asleep, and she curled up.
Morning time
