What's next?
Go to work with Cassie
Chapter 10
"Good morning!" Again you burst into the kitchen elated, again you had a dreamless and relaxing night. You slept little, but feel rested and awake and ready for the day. Since six hours was enough for you, you used the time in the evening after you were alone in bed to make more notes, to check theories and to make sure that you didn't dream the experiences with Jessica. You left Cassie and Jackson alone for the evening, and went to your room to think. Their voices guided you through the evening, but you were surprised to find that Cassie didn't moan softly, then louder, then softly again that night. She seems to really take your 'request' to heart, which adds another tick to your list: someone who has been with you for a while follows your instructions even when you are not there.
Now, the next morning, Cassie looks a bit sleepy but you like her with slightly tousled hair and a tired look that turns into a not-so-tired smile and wave as soon as she sees you. Jackson looks handsome at the stove but the smell of eggs and bacon suggests he's not used to cooking anything other than what Cassie did. The two of them have rarely had to prepare their own food in recent years. You just shrug your shoulders about that.
"Should I take my clothes off again?" wants Cassie to know lightly, and Jackson turns away from the stove with a serious expression. The girl is already sliding her thumbs under her shirt but you shake your head. As much as you want to admire this girl in her full, God-given glory, something else is on the agenda today.
"It's okay, but thanks," you say kindly and beckon Cassie next to you at the table. Jackson seems to be relieved, which won't last long if you've judged him correctly. Even for you it is still new to hold two people in your hand.
"Sometimes I just don't understand you guys." Cassie grabs a slice of toast and waits for Jackson to come to the table with the eggs and bacon. "You said you liked my two sisters." She points to her breasts bulging under her shirt and you can't help but look. Cassie's behavior has definitely changed since you got your powers, but in a way that doesn't scare you. She's always been open about her sexuality, especially in front of you, her closest confidant... after Jackson. That she's so open with you now is a good sign that you've set something in motion without pushing her. But it also makes you as horny as anything to see Cassie move her body. Her dainty arms deftly spreading the scrambled eggs on the toast, the slight twitch of her fingers as she gets the still-hot fat of the bacon on her hands, and her lips first contracting joyfully, then willingly parting to let your cock... the toast... in. You have to **** yourself to order while Jackson also sits down at the table.
"Sorry it's the same today as it was yesterday" he says more to Cassie than to you, "but since Finn isn't fulfilling his duties anymore, I have to step in." You nod in agreement.
"Never mind honey" Cassie says, wiping the corner of her mouth with her thumb. "I like eggs and bacon." You and the love of your life have always been close and protective of each other, so it's hard to know if Cassie's constant attempts to protect you from Jackson come from your influence or have always been there. It's a nice thought to imagine that it has nothing to do with your superpowers of mind control, after all Cassie has often been on your side before. Maybe she is, and your powers have only made her try to protect Jackson from your influence. Or maybe she's doing it because I opened the door for her... making her realize things just as I did with Jessica. If this goes on, you'll have to slap yourself in the face, but a shake of the head is just enough. Then Jackson distracts you from your great love when he clears his throat awkwardly.
"I could also try something bigger...if I had the money. If Finn didn't keep it all to himself..." He doesn't speak further, and you might be upset with your buddy if it hadn't been you who brought up the situation in the first place... and if you weren't so distracted by Jackson who seems to have taken to the new situation. You get up, go to your room and come back with two fifty-dollar bills you took from Jackson's stash. You put the money on the table.
"That should be enough. Do you have any ideas or would you like me to suggest something?" Jackson just looks at you disapprovingly and makes you grin. It does feel good to be a meanie sometimes, especially when Cassie is on your side.
"I think it's good that Finn is taking care of our finances from now on," she says good-humoredly, nibbling on her toast like a bunny. Jackson wrinkles his nose. "Think about it honey, how many times have we fought over our income and plans of our future?" You raise your head, also like a bunny that has scented something interesting.
"Well, not so many times . We've..."
"We owe you bjg time Finn." Cassie ignores Jackson and turns to you. You know her well enough to read even the slightest nuance in her features. She's genuinely happy. Not just about the responsibility being lifted, you see her eyes light up as she finally looks back to her boyfriend. You must have really helped her. There are few things that make you happy to have brought Cassie and Jackson closer together. Cassie's happiness is one of those things.
"No biggie," you clear your throat, "but are things really that bad between you two?" You have to admit that you haven't been able to make very big leaps financially so far. If they're having money problems like so many couples, you might not want to attack it alone.
"I can show you our budget if you want" laughs your dream girl. "But do you want to ruin your...and my...day?" She knows how to wrap you around her little finger, mind control or not.
"Okay, later then" you mean." But I'm definitely looking into it. I can't have my best bro and my best female bro not having a bright future." The three of you laugh at your line, which is at least half true.
"But I'm already reproaching myself because you're once again taking care of everything in my life," Cassie finally says. For her, not much seems to have changed, which makes you happy.
"No big deal" you say again but this time it doesn't work.
"Yes, big deal." Cassie pokes you in the side. "I told you to take better care of yourself".
"I am," you reply.
"By managing our money?" Good point.
"I met someone yesterday." The toast sticks in your throat as you think about Jessica. Why did you say that? Do you really think Cassie would be happy about that? And if she did, wouldn't that be even worse?
"Really?" your dream girl asks excitedly. Of course she's happy for you. She's just perfect. Reluctantly, and with an uncomfortable amount of pride in your voice, you tell her about Jessica and your free milkshake. You leave out the wild sex, of course, but the fact that a girl liked you so much that she gave you her number and a shake on the house makes Cassie sit up and take notice.
"So you see, I take care of myself too" you end. You feel uncomfortable telling Cassie about another girl and also how she reacts to it. She is overjoyed.
"That's fantastic" she exclaims. "We really need to go out to dinner there" she bursts out. "I really want to meet Jessica." Then she thinks of something else. "As long as you let us eat there. It's your money after all." Jackson jams his fork into the scrambled eggs like he's about to stab something (or someone).
"We can do that if you want," you say. Shut up! What are you doing? This can only go wrong. Think! Back to the plan you moron! "But not today." Cassie pouts, in doing solooking good enough to eat her whole.
"Alright," she grumbles, "But don't think you can keep your new girlfriend from me." Then you see something on her face but it's gone so fast you can't decipher it. "I need to make sure she meets my requirements for my bro."
"I promise," you say, "as long as you don't beat yourself up about the money anymore." Cassie just nods, which makes you frown. "That's not what I wanted to talk to you about," you say, getting back to your plan. Cassie looks at you questioningly.
A car ride later, you're standing next to Cassie in front of a mid-sized building downtown that looks as much like an office as the buildings to its left and right. You've even walked past it a few times, usually in a hurry, but always finding time to stop and imagine Cassie going about her day. Of course, the girl next to you doesn't know this as she leads you across the street and giggles as you want to hold her bag for her.
"Thanks Finn, that's really sweet of you" she says kindly, but keeps the bag. "But that wouldn't be such a good idea." She nods toward the building and you understand what she means. The guard in the lobby is friendly and you don't have to use your powers to get past him, Cassie's friendly nature and her employee badge take care of that. You even get your own building pass as a visitor.
"Just like the white house" you grin but the pass doesn't have the big white V on it.
"And best not a word about one of the old white men who rule us either" Cassie grins and looks at you apologetically. "Sorry Finn. I wish I could make the experience more pleasant for you, but..."
"It's okay Cas" you wave it off. "Don't worry about me. I wanted to come with you because of you. I can get through your friend."
"My boss" the girl corrects you while you are in the elevator upstairs. "Lena is... Don't think of her as my best friend in there, okay?" You nod and give her an encouraging 'thumbs up' but know what you're getting into. Then the elevator doors open to reveal a typical new-fangled office space. Plants on the walls, bright open design, fashionable style ceiling lights, free standing desks and work areas. Nothing reminds you of the gray offices you're used to, everything screams: Modern, techy and... feminine. Pictures of women in fashionable bikinis, swimsuits and summer dresses hang on the walls, the colors on the walls are bright and fruity and the furnishings also reflect the female body. Lots of curves, hardly any corners, warm contrasts, ergonomic seating balls, wide aisles. But above all, you quickly notice the temperature difference in the room. It's warm outside, but in here it's not hot yet, but several degrees too warm for you to feel comfortable in the long run.
Cassie doesn't say much about her work, neither to you nor to Jackson, which has always surprised you. But now you understand why she doesn't talk about her feminist workplace in front of you men. With her witty, outgoing manner, tough talk and crude humor, her openness to you (even before your powers), Cassie seems pretty out of place here. But you decide not to trust your first instincts and keep an open mind. After all, it was your idea and desire to accompany Cassie to work today so you won't spoil her mood. Still, it's cute to see Cassie turn to you briefly and shrug apologetically. You just grin and look around the room. It's a small office and you can make out maybe ten people walking around or sitting at their open workstations in the heat of the air conditioning set to the needs of women.
"Cassie," you hear a voice ring out over the sounds of employees working.
"Last chance to make your escape" Cassie whispers and winks at you but you brace yourself like a knight for battle.
"Hey Lena," your friend greets her companion and boss.
Lena Smith is not only Cassie's best friend but also the CEO and owner of Femware, a fashion design startup by women for women. She's about the same age as you, but has already achieved considerably more than you and has always let you feel it. As Cassie's roommate and best buddy, you of course know her friends, but haven't done much with them yet. Everything about Lena screams 'business woman', from her elegant and well-cut black and gray costume, to her upswept hairstyle, the jagged stormy-elegant march on her high-heeled shoes and especially the look that could conquer whole worlds. You have to admit that you're actually quite happy that Lena doesn't like you, because her kind has always intimidated you so far. Also the I-finish-you-all-off attitude of Lena seems to disturb Cassie sometimes, but friends are not always perfect. But fuckable she is. A man can dream.
The two girls often do something together when Lena wants to have fun and together with Cassie and Maya, Cassie's other friend, the three girls often go out until late at night through the discos and bars of the city. Lena got Cassie a job at her company, not just out of friendship, but because Cassie would like to study fashion design. This serves as a well-paid internship for her to be able to afford the university later, but you also see that she likes to spend time with Lena. She doesn't seem to mind that her friend likes to be the boss.
The two girls hug each other and you look at Cassie's back who fits well into the ensemble in her outfit. Her hips look adorable under her blazer and her skirt reaches just above her knees, perky but not daring. Your best friend designed her outfit herself and Lena commissioned it. You can even admire it in the company's catalog where Cassie was even allowed to model it, an image you've often relieved yourself over. Femware is a feminist company, it even says so on its website. Proud women of all kinds work here... But the models who show off the bikinis, swimsuits and dresses all look like you would imagine models to look. Apparently feminism also has limits when it comes to profit. This is again something you don't like about Lena, if you needed other reasons to the rejection of your person. Lena has never made a secret of the fact that she thinks you are a bad company and influence for Cassie, but until now she has always held back out of consideration for Cassie or because she didn't see any danger in you. Now her stares are like a plague on you while you admire Cassie.
"I'm glad you're here. How was your morning." Lena takes Cassie by the hand and is already about to lead her into the office but your best buddy turns to you.
"You remember Finn?" It makes you proud that Cassie won't let you go down so easily.
"But of course," Lena says without much emotion in her voice. "Why are you bringing him here?" Maybe you're contaminating her workplace with your manhood. You'd laugh about it if the men who work here didn't look like typical losers. One is skinny, the other fat as an oil tanker, one is so shy that he slouches like Prince Carles, the other has acne on his face like after the battle of Verdun. You are not someone who thinks bad about other people right away, but in this case you have ****. It's clear that the guys who work at Femwear don't have the slightest bit of masculinity and are working solely out of the hope of being accepted by one of the women who share the overheated office with them. Or maybe by one of the models in the pictures on the walls whose smiles look like they're on a particularly bad trip. Not so Cassie who smiles at you while Lena tries to dissect you with her eyes. Her expression is delicious as she realizes that you are no longer one of those guys who are intimidated by a confident attitude. You've known Cassie too well and too long not to have picked up some of her grit and determination to go through life. You don't blame yourself, without this girl's kind nature you might also be one of the boys working here in hopes of maybe getting lucky in life for once and you know the person who saved you from that fate has brought you here today. As Lena leads you and Cassie through the overheated office, discussing the latest design with your best friend, she keeps looking at you, misunderstanding your proud smile.
"You want to see how successful my friend is at her job?" She doesn't bother to hide the trap she's trying to drive you into. "Or do you want to get your hands on one of the models who work for me?"
"Oh don't do that" Cassie says and you don't know which of the two points she means. Maybe both. "I told you Finn almost died recently."
"You did," Lena says, turning to you without turning all the way around. "Best friends tell each other everything." Another threat.
"I know," you shrug. There's not that much to tell about you, thankfully, and this time your dreary but secure life at Cassie's side actually benefits you. "I took the day off to see how my best friend works." The jab hit home but Lena doesn't show it. "I like Cassie and I want to see how she spends her day." You could roar with happiness as Cassie hugs you and presses her cheek against yours in a display of closeness that infuriates Lena. Outwardly, though, she remains cool.
"But don't keep Cassie from working, all right? She's my best designer." The attempt to get Cassie on her side fails because it comes too quickly, your dream girl is still attached to you. But you nod to Lena, who disappears into her office shortly after.
"Come on," Cassie says happily. I'll show you my workspace."
You didn't think today would be so exciting. Watching Cassie at work, being quiet while she draws and measures and thinks, you don't imagine it would be particularly tingly. But the love of your life seems enraptured to have you around, engaging you in her thoughts, asking for your (completely inexperienced) opinion, and laughing and joking with you so that the time flies by.
"How are you getting on?" Lena asks her best worker just before lunch. It bothers you that she thinks of Cassie that way, because you just proved that you can work together as friends. Cassie proudly presents her designs to her boss.
"Finn helped," she says proudly and winks at you while Lena holds the sheet of paper in her hand and looks at it.
"Not bad" she hums and you pull your eyes up, but aren't surprised. "The feminist approaches, anyway. But this? A hood Finn?"
"In case it rains," is all you mean. Shaking her head, Lena hands the paper back to Cassie.
"I'm glad you're working so well together, but Cassie honey, don't let Finn interfere with your design process. He's not as knowledgeable as you...or as hardworking." She giggles, which, unlike Cassie, sounds like poison. "And the hood..."
"So the boy doesn't have to stand in the rain" Cassie says kindly in an attempt not to upset her friend and you. "Isn't it very feminist to take care of yourself without depending on a man and his jacked? And isn't it also good if he doesn't get wet himself?" Proudly, the girl looks at you.
"Can be honey. But what if there's no man around? Not all of us are as lucky as you and Jackson." That hit home. Lena is good at dishing it out after all. "You can't assume that there are men in this world who want to give you their jacket. Or that a woman will venture out into the rain just to impress a man." You almost said something, you really don't understand the logic behind Lena's words. You're just too naive you guess. But luckily you shut your mouth and watch Cassie nod instead.
"Okay Lena," she just says and rolls up the paper, not crumpling it.
"Keep up the good work honey. You have good ideas." Lena looks at you. "Ideas of your own." You hold back and let Lena be the boss of her company, not wanting to put Cassie between two stools.
"I will," your friend assures you. "After the break." She looks at her watch and stretches." Finn, how about we share a sandwich downstairs?" she suggests. You do so gladly, and as Cassie throws on her summer jacket, Lena turns to go, but then turns back.
"Can I steal Finn from you real quick first?" she asks with an innocent smile. Cassie's mouth is even wider open than yours. "Won't take long either," croons the girl who is as cunning as she is beautiful. "You guys can meet downstairs?" Cassie looks at you questioningly. This is one of those situations that scares you, especially because you could hurt Cassie and her career with what Lena has in mind for you. Whatever that is. Then you pause. No, this was one of those situations that scared you.
"Yeah I'd love to Lena," you say, turning to Cassie. "I'll be right there." Cassie can't believe it, but then just nods and walks through the office to the exit. Outside the elevator door, she turns back to you, sure to take one last look at your face before it gets punched. Then you lose sight of her as Lena invites you into her room.
