Go to the popular group

You decide to go to the popular group, although you yourself aren't the most popular guy at school. On arrival, you notice the group chatting away as usual. They slowly pause to stare at you awkwardly, "Hey John!" The silence is finally broken by Doe, who is smiling politely.
"Hey everyone" you practically stutter out of your mouth.
"We were just about to start a game," Doe begins. "but we need need one more person for it to run smoothly. Would you be interested?"
"What game do you have in mind?" You ask.
"Dodgeball," a boy named Josh comes out of the crowd saying. "but I guess with a body of a nerd, that wouldn't be your first option." He mocks, whilst shoving you with a great amount of ****.
"Leave him alone Josh!" Doe stands up for you. "Would you like to play with us John?
