Chapter 6 by Abdulalahazred Abdulalahazred

Go to the colonnaded courtyard

Arched doorways to the south and west open onto this enclosed courtyard. Thin granite columns support a cantilevered row of arches that wrap around the perimeter of the courtyard. The courtyard itself is overgrown with vines and various roses and orchids. It's humid and fragrant in here. In the center of the courtyard is a half-scale stone statue on a pedestal.

The Stone statue is a weatherbeaten sculpture, carved from white granite, of a young Greek **** girl in chains. She's kneeling, thighs spread apart, her wrists bound behind her, a collar around her neck. A small bronze plaque is affixed to the base. A greenish, flaking patina covers the surface of the plaque. There's some writing on it, that you are able to make out as you examine more closely. The lettering is corroded with age, but you can make out the text: "J. 1825"

The Stone birdbath is filled with brackish water. Green algae has accumulated along the scalloped contours of the bath interior. Since the courtyard's roofed over in glass, having a birdbath here is probably for decorative purposes only.
