Chapter 14 by Eastwood Eastwood

What's next?

Go to the Lord Commander's tower

You feel the cold kiss your cheeks when you are already out of your room.

It's early in the morning, but your brothers are already awake. All of them going to their own posts, wearing their costumes and black capes from head to toe. Only their faces were visible. You were dressed just like them. "Crows", that's what the wildlings called them. You couldn't deny it, you and your brothers tucked into those black clothes really looked like crows, especially when they wore the hood over their heads.

In a hurry, you went down the tower's wooden stairs and into the main courtyard. There you see Rick heading toward the elevator. He gives you a naughty smile as he goes. You know what he meant by that smile. You don't respond to that, just go on. Bowden wants to see you, and you better not disappoint him, because if you did, you would suffer some punishment.

You climb the Lord Commander's towering stairs, and face the Lord himself descending the stairs, accompanied by three other black brothers.

“Newbie”, Bowden says in a friendly tone. “It's time,” he continues.

"I am at your command, Lord Commander", you reply.

“Good. Follow us, Koby. We can't take too long. Let's go to the library to meet Maester Avamys, I'll explain the mission there. ”

"Understood".

You had never been so close to the Lord Commander, and only now could you notice him. Bowden was tall, about six feet tall. You heard from one of the lookouts that Bowden turned 50 at the beginning of that year, but he didn't look that age. He was broad-shouldered like a man at his best age, and did not appear to be a hunchback at all. His eyes were dark as a Stark's, and his brown hair was gradually turning gray; its wires reached his shoulders. He had a thin beard on his face, the same color as his hair. It was a friendly face, long and thin.

Glancing at the other three brothers, you recognized them. Donquio Snow (better known as “Don”), Brent Mayane, and Randall Greatman. They weren't all much older than you, and by the expressions on their faces you deduce they probably weren't there a year ago, just like you. You knew them only because of the dining hall where everyone gathered, but you never talked to them.
