Go chat with the muscular guy in the leather harness

Feeling a little awkward, you approach the man in the leather harness who is leaning against the wall near the stage. He's built - a wide, muscular chest, and thick shoulders with equally impressive biceps. The straps that cross over his chest are only part of the leather he's wearing. He also has leather chaps, and a leather cod-piece with silver studs on it, and his hands are completely covered with tight black leather gloves.

"Hi," you say, when he looks at you and his lips quirk in a little smile.

"Hi," he says back.

"Uh," you feel yourself wondering what you could possibly say to this guy. "It's my first time here."

He nods, "I haven't seen you here before." His dark eyes meet yours, but flick up and down you for a brief glance.

You smile a little. "It's my birthday," you say.

"Happy birthday," he says, and you don't think he's making fun of you.

You stand there for a moment, wondering what else you could possibly say, when something strange happens.

The lights go really dim.

“It’s Friday night!” a man’s voice announces over some sort of speaker. “Time for Blackout at the Midtown Pub!”

The room has been filling up for some time, and at the dimming, there are cheers. You look around, confused.

“Blackout night,” the leather man says, over the hoots and hollers.

“Blackout night?” you ask.

"Best night of the month." He laughs. “Once a month the lights go down, and people play in the dark.” He pauses. "You weren't making it up, were you - this really is your first time here."

You nod. "Yeah."

He shakes his head. "Sorry. I get a lot of guys who pretend to be all innocent..." He looks at you again, a harder task in the dimmer light. He leans forward a bit.

"So you've never been here on a blackout night, then," he says. You can see his teeth in the semi-dark. "You are an innocent."
