Chapter 9

What does she do?
Give in
"You know what Julie? Maybe you're right, maybe you do deserve a little time... with friends."
"You can't do-... what?" Julie blinked. "Really? I can go out?" She obviously never considered actually winning the argument and her brain took a few moments to catch up, as shown in her lost expression. Danielle swallowed hard as her daughter stopped at the banister, easily within sight of her naked shoulders. "Yes, Julie, you can go. Now. I-I mean, If you want." Motherly instinct made her add the last bit but her heart nearly jumped out of her chest when Julie ran forward and threw her arms around her, "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I swear I'll be safe and back soon and everything!"
She ran off trailing a stream of thank-you's, barely remembering to grab her stuff on the way out. Danielle let out a long breath and leaned heavily on the banister. That had been too close. A pit of guilt and shame started to develop as she thought about how she'd sent her daughter off into unknown circumstances just to avoid an embarrassing conversation. Those regrets were banished as she realized she'd automatically "assumed the position", bent over at the waist to minimize the pressure between her cheeks. Julie would be fine, what Danielle should be worried about was how she was going to play this off to her husband.
