Give Supergirl a call

Supergirl wasn't on the active duty roster for the day either, so you decide to take a chance and give her a call to see if she wants to do something today. After a few rings though, it goes to voicemail and you realize that she is probably at work for her cover ID. Still, no harm in leaving a message. "Hey, it's Shad. I'm guessing you are at work right now, but I was wondering if you aren't busy later and wanted to hang out. I'll talk to you later." You hang up, but before you can think of what to do next, your phone starts ringing with Kara calling you back.

"Hey, sorry I missed your call. What's up?" she asks.

"Did you get my message?"

"I didn't get a-" BZZZ You can hear the phone vibrate through the speaker. "Oh there it is. Well, anyway. What's going on?"

"I was just wondering if you were free tonight."

"Ah the dreaded 'night off' I see," she chuckles. "Yeah I don't have any plans, assuming the planet isn't facing certain doom by then. I've actually been wanting to check out Zee's new show. Wanna go?" Zee, of course is superheroine/stage magician Zatanna. You haven't met her in person, but you are certainly familiar with her work.

"Sure that sounds fun. What time is that?"

"8:00. Pick me up at 7? Oh and wear something formal. Apparently it's a fancy venue."

"Sounds good. I'll see you then." Well, you now have plans for tonight, but you are very much lacking in the fancy clothing department, so it looks like you'll need to make a shopping trip. You look it up and find a place that is close to one of the porting stations and head out.

Back on solid ground, it's a short walk to the storefront. When you get there though, there's a hippie-looking lady protesting at the coat store nextdoor to where you are going. Great...

"FUR IS ****!" you hear her shout. You are fully prepared to ignore the crazy lady, but then you notice her pull a weapon and point it at a woman who has just left the coat store wearing a fur coat. The police must have been on standby due to the protester's presence as two officers come running down the sidewalk almost immediately.

You aren't in uniform and you don't have your gear, but your instincts won't let you stand by and do nothing.
