Getting up to do what needs to be done

You woke up just before dawn when you felt nature calling. Throwing on some clothes, you'd slept naked underneath a few pilfered blankets, you walked off to the trees and relieved yourself. When you were done you returned to Rose who was just then starting to wake up.

"Good morning" you told her, smiling.

"Hi" she whispered throatily, reaching up to find your hand. When you took her hand she pulled you closer and you joined her under the blankets again, smiling when she curled up against you.

"Hey" you said, kissing the top of her head. "Sleep well?"

"Yeah" she said, smiling broadly. "I always do when you're around."

"I'm glad" you replied, stroking her back. "Should we get some breakfast then start gathering up stuff?"

"Can't I convince you to stay here with me for a little longer?" Rose wanted to know.

"So you can seduce me again with your wicked ways?" you asked with a grin.

"Not necessarily" she replied. "I'm not horny all the time, you know."

"Oh, good" you said, "I'm still tired from yesterday."

"Good" Rose said, closing her eyes as she rest her head on your shoulder.

"We are going to have to get up at some point. Cora and Claire will be waiting for us" you pointed out.

"Claire most of all" Rose told you with a wicked grin.

"Too bad for her I'm spoken for" you said.

"I'd be willing to loan you out for a night or two" Rose said.

"Yeah, I bet you are. Then, when I take you up on your offer, you will complain, even though I'm only fucking Claire out of the kindness of my heart" you told her.

"Yep! And you failed!" Rose replied.

"I never said that I would" you said, playfully nipping at Rose's nose. She giggled and swatted at you.

"Ah! Get off, you creep!" she said.

"Oh, be quiet. Come on, let's get up and get some work done. The faster we get back, the faster I can get my dick sucked by Claire. Or you" you said, getting up.

"Not Cora?" Rose teased as she reached out and grabbed your hand, pulling herself up.

"Nah, she's not my type" you said.

"Willing and slutty?" Rose suggested.

"She's too cute" you teased right back, "I only want ugly skanks."

"Just so you know, I can still say no to your marriage proposal" she pointed out.

"You won't" you said.

"Dammit, you're right" Rose said. "Want to get to work?"

The two of you combed the beach just like you'd planned. Luggage was still coming in on the tide, even though it wasn't as much as it had been earlier.

The well of goodies was running dry, it seemed. Somewhere in the back of your mind was the thought that this was all somebody's stuff, somebody with a life and a family. However, it was all about survival. You doubted that anybody who was dead would care about you taking their toothpaste.

"Something wrong, baby?" Rose asked. Apparently you'd been thinking without doing anything.

"Nah, it's nothing" you lied.

"Come on, John. I know you well enough by now to know that you went somewhere deep. Now dish" Rose said. You told her about your thoughts, making her smile quite unexpectedly. "That's so sweet" she told you, "but it's okay. If it'll make the difference between living or dying, I'm sure we can be forgiven for browsing through some woman's unmentionables."

"So you absolve me?" you asked.

"That's between you and the big man on Judgment Day" Rose said.

"Gee, thanks" you said, "throwing me under the bus like that."

"Hey, you wanted absolution. I can't give that to you. All I have to give you is a loving relationship and babies" Rose replied.

"A loving but boring relationship, right?" you said, laughing.

"Just the way we like it" Rose said with a nod.

"Yeah" you confirmed.

Later that afternoon it was already getting dark by the time you'd finished collecting and sorting everything.

"So, one more night alone, huh?" you said with a grin.

"Mmm, are you thinking what I'm thinking?" Rose asked.

"Probably" you replied.

"Great. In bed by seven as practice for our boring life together" she said, giggling.

"You are the worst" you said. "As soon as we get back to civilization I'm dumping you and getting with Aria."

"You wouldn't" Rose said, pretending to be hurt.

"Fuck no. I've tasted you and I want more, far more" you said, putting your arms around Rose's waist and pulling her close.

"What happened to boring?" Rose asked.

"Even boring housewives ready 50 Shades of Gray, Rose" you told her.

"Does that mean you want to tie me up?" Rose asked with a grin.

"Do you want me to?" you shot back.

"And be left to your mercy? Yeah, I'd love that" Rose said, a blush coming to her cheeks.

"I'll keep that in mind" you told her, "now kiss me, okay?"

Rose did just that and together you laid down on what passed for your bed in the beginnings of the abode you'd started building a few days ago.
