Get A Closer Look.

An unusual looking black pond dominates the clearing ahead of you. Stepping closer you see various stones, rocks and pebbles line the rim of the pond, itself an inky black liquid. Faint ripples run across its surface.

That... liquid looks similar to the consistency of water.

Stepping from the latex grass and onto the 'pebbles'; a firm rubbery texture with a small amount of give underfoot. Like just about everything else here, it was a nice sensation.

You approach the ponds edge and kneel down for a look. The 'water' is completely black and you are unable to see anything through it at all. If there is anything living in this, you certainly wouldn't be able to see it under the surface.

You take a sniff or two but beyond the smell of latex, albeit a faint one, there is no other smell, not even of water vapour.

Reaching down you glide your fingers through the blank ink. It is certainly thin like water and is indeed very black. The latex water rolls off your hand quickly though and leaves no residue at all.

With a sigh you stand back upright and look left then right. The pond extends all the way to the walls of the maze, you will have to either wade through its unknown depths or go back and look for another way.
