Genie Girlfriend

"I wish... that you were my girlfriend!" Matthew exclaimed.

The Genie blinked. "That's a new one." She admitted. Most humans had been very jealous, refusing to ever let anyone see her. It was also very vague. She had a lot of leeway in how she interpreted it. First, she assumed a corporeal form, gently floating down and landing on the ground.

Matthew admired her new physical form. She had been beautiful before, no question about it, but there was something about being affected by gravity that made her feel more real, less like a fantasy and more like an actual woman he could touch. And then he saw nothing.

The Genie could not delay the granting of a wish, but as long as time was essentially not moving, it didn't really count. This gave her time to think. She could fast forward them to when he got back from this expedition. Or enter it herself, implanting her into the pasts of the other members. Or not do that, and make him spend a wish on it. Still, that would be kind of annoying for him, and she didn't want to be annoying. She frowned, something about that thought was bothering her. Or, she could leave him here and be waiting for him back in the states when he went home. But of course, she didn't want to spend too much time apart from her boyfriend. Fuck, that wasn't how she was supposed to think. She must have accidentally affected herself with the wish. It was generally impossible for a wish to really change her, but this must have been in a gray area. She had to think about something else. She could edit his memories so he forgot she was a genie. It might be nice to experience how he treated her if he really thought of her as his girlfriend. But then he wouldn't make wishes, she reminded herself. Or, what about herself? She could isolate these new feelings into a separate persona of sorts, only remembering who she really was only when he made a wish. It would give her back control in times like these, and these feelings could put her at a disadvantage.
