Gather The Wood

You decide you'd be able to sleep much better if you were somewhat familiar with your immediate surroundings. You also know that the instructions for setting up the tent were lost several camping trips ago and that it's no small task to put the thing together.

Moving back along the path you came up on, you scan the area for suitable wood to build a fire. Off to your left you spy a fallen tree that has plenty of broken branches around it. With any luck, the wood will be dry and you'll have your task completed shortly.

With a determined stride, you hop over a small pool of silvery water and start toward the fallen tree. You stop short though as a pricker bush or something scratches your inner thigh. Bending over and pulling the flesh on your smooth leg to afford a good look, you discover a particularly nasty wound. Your blood is flowing rather freely, but you don't think you'll need stitches.
