Fully Furnished

Armond frowned. "Where are we gonna put the fucking couch? This place already has a couch - Two of 'em!"

Nick was back to unreality. His memory wanted to tell him there hadn't been. His feet began wondering. Off to his left was the dining room. When he had been there with the realtor, there hadn't been a stick of furniture in it, right? Wrong! Inside were a table and its chairs. They looked like they came from a thrift store, but they still seemed better than the ones they had. It also had a sideboard and dish cabinet. The cabinet even had dishes. Eerie chills ran up and down his back.

"Armond!" Erick called out.

"I'm checking out the bedrooms!" the guy said, climbing the stairs.

"Of course he is," Erick said, sitting on the arm of the couch mostly inside the house. Nick went back and stood by him. He didn't want to find his memory was playing even more tricks on him.

After a couple of minutes, Armond called out from the top of the stairs, "I get the bedroom next to the bathroom!" Then he further gloated with, "It even has a king size bed!"

That was definitely something Nick didn't want to hear.

"Do they all have beds in them?!" Eric yelled.

"Yeah! With almost clean sheets, no less!"

"Fucking damn!" said the upset Erick. He looked at Nick. "I can't sleep in a strange bed! Look at me! I'm six-five! I need my own bed!"

"I'll help you," Nick said without enthusiasm.

"If it's a pain...." But the frowning Erick saw that Armond had disappeared. He no doubt went off to lay on the bed he claimed. He couldn't expect that musclehead to volunteer now.

"Come on," Nick told him. "First thing to do is get the bed out of the room you'll be in."

"The first thing to do is get this fucking couch back into the rent-a-truck. It's blocking the doorway!"
