I pondered where to take Emma when I remembered I had a friend named Benjie. He was a great guy and I helped him learn English since he didn't know any during high school. I remember Benjie saying that his uncle owned an expensive restaurant somewhere. Maybe he can help me. Best thing is, he doesn't even know my sister. Benjie would probably think she is a random girl that I fell in love with.
I went upstairs as I heard my parents leaving the house. Geez, where do they go? They are always going out somewhere. I went through my old yearbook because I remembered I left a note there with Benjie's number. I finally found it after a few minutes of searching and called the number on the paper. Please pick up.
"Hello?" came a deep voice.
"Benjie! It's me, Jake!" I exclaimed.
"Really? How are you Jake? I haven't seen you since uh...you know..." Bennie stammered. He was there when he saw Sarah slapping me in front of the entire school.
"Yeah..." Not a memory that I wanted to think about. "But I wanted to ask you a question."
"Sure."
"Your uncle owns a restaurant right?"
"Of course! In fact, while you were gone, the restaurant became super popular and is now THE best place to eat in town. You should see it, the place is super packed every night. Some people even have to place reservations a week in advance!" Benjie proudly stated.
"That's cool!" I said, impressed and a bit unsettled. "Is it okay for you to have a seat for me and my date Friday night?" I silently prayed that he will.
"Date!?" Bennie sounded extremely surprised.
"Yea..."
"Hmmm. Let me ask my uncle first." There was a moment of silence but then he came back. "My uncle said yes. Any friend of mine is a friend of his."
I silently danced around the room. "Thanks Benjie!"
"No problem. Hope to see you soon."
Benjie hanged up and now I need to think of something to do after our date. We need an activity to do before calling it quits and going back home.
