Free day

"It's a free day." Valerie replied. "Which is just as well, really. I can't exactly to go college like this, can I?"

"Like what, dearie?" her mother asked, frowning. "I've told you, you don't have a temperature."

"I mean dressed like this."

"Well, you'd put your shoes and socks on first, silly."

Valerie opened her mouth to object, but then thought better of it. There was clearly something unusual going on here, some reason why her family thought she didn't wear clothing. If it had been her friends she might have suspected an elaborate prank, but why would her mother and father, of all people, want to parade her around naked? No, she had to be cautious about this, try and find out what was going on.

"Best not to push it too far." she told herself. "Or else they might insist I visit the doctors or something."

"Well," her father said, cutting into her thoughts "You can't really do anything while your coffee is cooling down, so could you do me a favour Val?"

"Sure dad." she replied.
