Free Use Roll-Out

"Well, Simone, I was thinking I'd like to be there for the start of Free Use. But this time, instead of meeting the politician who started it, I'd like to be just an ordinary guy in an ordinary town, and see the start of free use from that perspective. And maybe there could be some kind of education campaign or staged start?"

"I see what you are getting at, James. Of course we can do that. Compiling now."

Before I could ask for one more change, the world blurred before me, and when it came back into focus I was sitting at a desk in a rather pleasant office. My desk was one of several along one side of a large, open room that had three such clusters. A row of glass-doored offices lined one wall. Out of the windows I could see that I was in some medium-sized town.

A young woman ("Susan" came unbidden from my mind, I guess Simone left me some memories) came out of one of the office and, clearing her throat, announced, "Hey everybody! It's time for the HR training session on Free Use. Please finish your calls and join us in the conference room."

A few other co-workers got up and walked out of the room, so I got up and followed them. We walked down a short hallway and into a windowless room that was set up with a projector and chairs in rows, facing the back of the room.

I took a seat and waited while the others shuffled in. Susan waited near the screen at the back. She was, I guessed, in her late twenties and had long, auburn hair. She was wearing conservative office attire: a slate grey skirt, sensible flat shoes, and a light blue button-down shirt, but this didn't serve to hide her shapely body or pretty face.

After several minutes she started. "Joanne, could you dim the lights please?" Joanne, the head of HR, was waiting near the door. She turned the dimmer and took a seat nearby.

Susan clicked her remote and the title screen of a presentation appeared on the screen: "Free Use and Sexual Harassment." The corporate logo was in the bottom corner and there was a subtitle reading "The Answer is 'Yes'".

"Hi," started Susan. "As you know the Free Use laws are going to go into effect starting the first of next month -- next Tuesday. This presentation will cover how sexual harassment laws are changing, and what you can expect from Free Use. If you have any questions, please just interrupt and I will try to answer as we go along. Now, let's start with sexual harassment."

A woman -- I couldn't tell who -- from the other side of the room interrupted. "Susan, I don't feel comfortable with this. I think there should be separate presentations for men and women."

Susan replied, "I understand what you're saying, Leslie. We actually discussed this in HR before this meeting, and we decided it was important to have a single meeting so that everyone would be on the same page. Separate meetings might be more comfortable but there would be more of a risk that people would get different understandings of the rules. To try to alleviate this a bit, we'll be taking questions in writing, too. You can just write them on a slip of paper, or text me, and I'll answer them here. So, let's continue now."

Here I tuned out a bit. 'What kind of fantasy is this', I wondered. 'I'm watching a powerpoint presentation and the chair isn't even comfortable.' I squirmed a little.

"If you've been following the news, you'll know there's been a lot of debate about the schedule, but I'm happy to announce that the final guidelines have been published by the Department for Sexual Relations. I think the guidelines are straightforward, but I'll be sending around email with them and meanwhile we're required to go over them in person. Just to warn you a bit, this part is going to be fairly explicit."

Here she clicked to the next slide, which read 'Tier 1: Oral'. "Tier 1 is what will be opened on the first -- next Tuesday. Tier 1 consists essentially handjobs and oral sex. Joanne moved from her spot at the back of the room to look at Susan's phone. She whispered a few things to Susan, then returned to her seat.

"Ok," said Susan. "Although I'm doing the presentation, Joanne is the real in-house expert, and is more versed in the details than I am. So, to answer your questions you pervs" -- and she gave another smile, though perhaps a little more **** this time -- "First, ladies, unless the man says otherwise, you're permitted to clean up the, umm, 'cream pie' afterwards. There were no questions for this one, so Susan clicked to "Tier 5: The Rest". "Starting January 1st, anything goes!
