For Chivalry! Charge!!!!!
For Honor! (Pick this thread, the other was put in by mistake)
For a year the city had been under siege. A fleet of ships had blocked off the harbor, and around the walls lines of trenches set up, cutting off the food supply. Starvation was slowly taking its toll on the defenders, and the attackers had heard the noise of riots from within during the last few days.
The trebuchet;s had been flinging rocks nonstop these last few months, and the walls were clearly beginning to weaken. Everyone knew it was only a matter of time before there was a breach, and it couldn't come any sooner. Anreay plague and dysentary stalked the tents like demons. Fear, anger, hope, all mixed together into a jumbled mass that cried for release. No one kenw what might happen when they finally assaulted, but one was clear: all the pent-up emotion, hardship, and frustration the besigers had endured these past months would be slaked upon the defenseless city once the sack began.
And then, without warning it happened. A mighty boulder hurled at the wall knocked part of it down, massive blocks falling away upon the defenders crowed in the streets below. A breech Thirty feet wide now lay within the walls. Lord Harzal, the former ruler who had hired this mighty host, gathered his captains for consultation, and gave the orser everyone had been waiting for.
"Assemble the army at dawn! We **** at first light!"
Allandal yelled a challenge to the gathered defenders beyond the breech, Tirrian’s hoves clattering on the cobblestones as he charged forward. His lance shivered, and to his disgust cracked in half as he took an armored swordsman in the chest. Whipped out his longsword, he hacked down another man, his warhorse rearing up and dashing out the brains of a third. The rest, deciding that discretion was the better part of valor, fled for their lives.
All around him mercenaries rushed past, in a frenzy for the plunder that was promised them by Lord Harzal. Allandal looked upon this with disfavor, but was enough of a realist, even at 22 summers, to understand that it was probably inevitable.
But plunder had little attraction for him. His lady love, the one he was devoted to by the rules of courtly love, was held somewhere in this city. And he had sworn an oath before the One God to rescue her.
But first he had to find her though. And in this festering mess of a city that could be a problem.
Which way?
