Football vs. Westmere

Saturday rolled around quicker that he thought it would. The end of the mid semester break was coming to a close but Mark still had a football match to get through.

The team had headed up on the bus down the highway to their local rivals, the Westmere Bulldogs. Mark couldn’t even describe how much he’s teammates had built this up, they all despised that college and were determined to win. And if not win, bully them on the field.

Mark thought back to his Freshman Year, the rivalry extended off the field. The last time they met, Westmere students trashed their campus and even assaulted certain students there. Getting them back however was a bit of fun as the football team and others attempted to steal the massive bulldog logo from their stadium.

Tonight as they entered their campus, Mark felt like they were soldiers in a foreign country. Everyone there looked like they were going to start spitting on them, it was a real hostile environment. Knowing how bad it was going to be, even the cheerleaders decided not to take the road trip for their own safety.

Once on the field, the game was tense, the Bulldogs started with possession and were out there for a long time without scoring. The contest was brutal, hard hits and un necessary acts of minor ****.

As Mark stood on the boundary line waiting for the Eagles offensive team to have to their chance on the field, he started to panic. Watching what was in store for him was scary, his legs were wobbling. No amount of comfort talk from Captain Bryce Walker was doing anything to help.

Eventually it was his time to get on out there after the Bulldogs turned the ball over right near their own touchdown zone.

“Just stick to the plan and we’ll be right,” Bryce said to him as they got ready to play.

Unfortunately for Mark, as soon as the ball hit Bryce’s hands and the defensive team moved in, Mark was bowled over by a bulldogs player as he ran towards the quarterback.

Laying on the ground, the whole stadium on its side, Mark was really starting to regret taking Bryce up on his offer.

After the third time it happened that night, he was really starting to feel sore. He was helped up by Marotta who grabbed him up by the hand.

“Fucking come on bro! Wake up!” he yelled at him.

He didn’t like being knocked down nor did he like being spoken to like that from teammates. It didn’t seem to matter too much on the scoreboard however, it was an extremely low scoring game with the Bulldogs leading 3-0 in the final term.

With just a couple of minutes left, the Bulldogs made a run for the end zone. It was over 50 yards and the fans in the stadium were going berserk. They all went nuts as they could tell he was going to make it for the touchdown.

Dixon was hot on his tail but he couldn’t keep up with the Westemere wide receiver. He scored the touchdown and guaranteed that the Bulldogs would win the match.

Eagles Teammates on the side line we’re visibly upset, Mark on the other hand just wanted to go home already.

However, things weren’t going to be that simple. As the Westmere player started to celebrate after the scoring play, Dixon came up from behind still at full pace and tackled him to the ground. The next couple of minutes was full on war.

The Westmere boys were not impressed by the lack of sportsmenship, they all piled in on top of Dixon, trying to get a piece of him. Once that happened, Mark’s teammates on the field came in and an all in brawl began.

Fists started to fly. So did their bodies.

Watching one of the more popular defenders of the team being ganged up on by three Westmere boys, the eagles offensive team had enough of standing by. Players started to storm the field, the rest of the Bulldogs team doing the same.

It was on.
