Chapter 14 by Felix715 Felix715

What does Iris do with the rest of the day?

Follow Victoria's suggestion

Alone in her room, Iris looks at the closed door Victoria just excited and touches her lips thinking of her childhood friend. She was no longer the timid little girl Iris once knew but, after their kiss, Victoria had shown that side of herself for a brief moment. Now that she was gone, the thought fills Iris with a strange longing.

Walking back to her vanity, Iris looks in the mirror. Dressed in the fancy school uniform with her long black hair brushed, no one could confuse her for a boy. She thought she looked rather fetching. Her skin was fair and smooth and her blue eyes striking; with a little makeup, she could be quite attractive.

"You can do this. Any boy would be lucky to have you." Iris tells her reflection. But what about a girl? The thought creeps into her mind causing her to shake her head. Iris had never considered such things before. "It was just one kiss. It's no big deal."

Deciding it best to follow through with Victoria suggestion, Iris heads for the door. It would be a good idea to familiarize herself with the school and find all her classes before tomorrow. Maybe that would help take her mind off Victoria and the kiss they shared.

Iris exits her room and takes the stairway next to the door, down to the first floor of the dormitory. The halls are immaculate but simple in their beauty. Groups of girls move to and from rooms, chatting about what they did on their most recent break: skiing vacations, sunbathing in some tropical paradise, or partying in a foreign city. The kinds of adventures Iris could only dream about. Frowning at the realization that, no matter how well she looked the part, she could never really fit in with these girls. All the more reason to focus on her task at hand; marrying Arthur may not have been her idea but it was her ticket to a better life.

Iris makes her way into the school beyond the girls' dormitory. The blue carpet giving way to polished hardwood floors while the white walls now vaulted up to accommodate three floors of classrooms. Iris double checks her schedule, etiquette class was first. Located on the second floor in room two thirteen. Iris looks for a set of stairs not wanting to travel all the way to the main entrance.

After some searching, Iris is able to navigate her way around the school and finds her way to all of her morning classes. She finds that the school actually has a rather simple layout and getting around is easy enough. On her way to find her first class after lunch, Iris turns a corner to spot Arthur exciting a classroom. Following closely behind him is a blond-haired girl calling after him.

"Arthur, wait up." She cries out. Iris quickly ducks back around the corner to watch. "Arthur!" She says again.

"What is it, Lydia?" Arthur turns to face her, sounding a bit put out.

"I only asked if you wanted to do something this weekend." She looks slightly confused about his current mood. "Whatever day works best for you." She steps closer to him. "Whatever you want to do." She says with a smile placing a hand on his chest.

"And I said I am probably busy." Arthur pulls back from her touch.

"But its the first week of school, you can't possibly have that much going on. And we haven't seen each other in two months." She protests.

"Look, maybe I will have time but, until the weekend gets here, I just don't know. Coach will probably say we are rusty from the break and want us down at the course most of the weekend." Arthur sighs. "And I know we have new people who need to be coached too. I'm just expecting a busy weekend."

"Ok..." The girl frowns. "Just don't forget about me."

"Yeah..." Arthur turns to walk away and Iris hides behind the corner to avoid being seen.

Who is this Lydia, Iris wonders. Is she a girlfriend Victoria didn't tell her about? Maybe she didn't know herself. He did seem put out with the girl, perhaps he isn't as interested as she is.

Iris turns away as Arthur goes walking by. She knows she should probably finish finding her classes before the end of the day. However, knowing that another girl is after him, this could be a good opportunity to spend some more time with Arthur.

Follow Arthur?
