What's next?
Follow Celeste
During that day, Makoto did nothing but follow around Celeste. Long story short, it wasn't very eventful. First, Makoto followed her to the library, where he stuck around outside and checked in every few minutes. Three hours passed, and she showed no signs of leaving.
"What are you doing?" Kyoko asked, walking up to him.
"Oh, n-nothing, don't worry about it," Makoto replied.
"Really, what are you doing? Just lounging outside the library?"
"I... I wanted to read a book, but I'm waiting for Celeste to leave. I don't read well when I'm with other people."
"Then why don't you just get a book and go to your room? It's not like a public library."
He decided to feign ignorance. "Oh... uhh... I didn't think of that,"
She shook her head in disappointment and made him go inside.
Celeste looked up at Makoto and sighed before putting her book back on the shelf and leaving. Well, he kind of owed it to Kyoko for making Celeste leave.
Kyoko stood by the door and watched Makoto grab his book before sighing and leaving.
"What's her deal?" Makoto asked. "Well, whatever."
Makoto took the book with him and ran outside to follow Celeste again. Thankfully, it looked like Kyoko had left, so it didn't seem like he had to worry about her for now.
Because of that, he kind of lost track of her for a solid twenty minutes. But soon enough, he noticed her entering the bathhouse.
"Perfect," Makoto muttered. "Just what I needed."
He waited for around five or so minutes before running into the bathhouse after her. Once he was inside the locker room, he reached for the handle and opened up the part to the main bathroom, poking his head in.
In there was Celeste, sitting in a pool of water.
"Okay," he said. But nothing happened. Celeste still moved around a bit, but it didn't seem like she was zoning out at all.
Makoto panicked for a second before opening up his handbook and checking the action. "Yup, I'm doing this right..." he said. "Why isn't it working?"
"Why isn't what working?" a voice asked. Makoto turned around to see Kyoko standing over him.
"Oh, Kyoko, what're you doing here?" he asked, trying to cover up what he's done.
"I could ask the same question to you," she said. "You knew Celeste was in here, and you followed her in anyways. Are you trying to spy on her?"
"No, I-I-I'm jus-"
"I don't think Celeste would appreciate if I were to tell her what you did." she said. "But, if you confess now, tell me now, and get out of here, I'll leave it a secret."
This was a worst-case scenario. Kyoko caught him, and his action wasn't completing for some reason. Should he just leave and take Kyoko's offer?
No. that would count as this being a failed attempt and Kyoko would have that memory forever. If he could somehow salvage this and make Celeste's trigger unlock now, he could both fulfill his action and wipe Kyoko's memory of this.
"i take it your silence is a no." she muttered before sighing. She entered the bathhouse as Makoto looked at her through the door and she approached Celeste.
"Shit," Makoto said. "I should've backed off!"
He watched Kyoko talk a bit to Celeste and then point at the door. Once Celeste's eyes hit him, her face contorted into one of disgust. Then, all of a sudden, she looked directly forward and talked loud.
"Action Complete." Celeste loudly said. "Passive Trigger Unlocked: Laser Focus."
"Huh?" Makoto asked. Why had it only activated then? Well, whatever. The important part is that it activated at all.
Both Kyoko and Celeste looked straight ahead. "Cleanup Time: Three Minutes"
Oh, right, cleanup time. He should probably get out of here.
That was... risky. Extremely risky. Well, he could rest safe now that he was back in his room. Well, anyways, he might as well check out whatever Celeste's trigger did.
Celestia Ludenberg's Triggers:
- Laser Focus (Passive): Whenever playing a game, gambling or not, she will fail to notice or care about anything going on around her. Does not include the Killing Game.
"That's kind of useful actually," Makoto said. "I just hope Kyoko's memory was wiped."
